The verdict

Best for. Visitors basing themselves in Lindos who want a sandy swim a short walk from the village, with sunbeds, water sports and the famous Acropolis view above the bay.

Best spot. The northern end of the main beach near the small jetty, where the sand is widest and the water shallowest, away from the busiest sunbed blocks.

Know this. This is the main resort beach of Lindos, so it is busy and built up, not a quiet cove. Come for the setting and convenience, and go early before the village wakes.

The honest read

Pallas is the main beach of Lindos, and you feel the village in it from the first step onto the sand. The whitewashed houses climb the hill, the Acropolis crowns the headland, and the bay below fills with sunbeds, pedalos and the steady hum of a busy resort. For a postcard setting within walking distance of one of the most photographed villages in Greece, it delivers exactly what it promises.

The swimming is easy and family friendly. The main bay is sheltered and shallow, so the water warms early in the season and children can paddle safely in typical calm conditions. Walk toward the small jetty and the northern point and the water deepens and clears, which is where stronger swimmers and snorkellers tend to settle. Water sports run from the sand for anyone who wants a faster afternoon.

Here is the honest part. Pallas is not a hidden gem and was never going to be. In July and August it is shoulder to shoulder, the sunbed blocks dominate the sand, and the lanes down from the village clog with foot traffic and scooters. The view stays magnificent and the convenience is real, but if your dream is an empty cove, this is the wrong beach and you should look south along the coast instead.

Who should skip it. If you want quiet and space, the smaller bays around Pefkos and the cove at St Pauls Bay below the headland suit far better. But if you are staying in Lindos, want a sandy swim ten minutes from your room, and like the energy of a proper resort beach with the Acropolis watching over it, Pallas is the obvious and very pleasant choice.

The club layer

Sunbeds and water sports, not a daybed club

Pallas is an organised resort beach with sunbed concessions, snack bars and water sports rather than a single branded beach club. For dressed up daybeds and music, the larger clubs further up the east coast deliver more. Use the Rhodes beach clubs guide and treat Pallas as the convenient Lindos swim.

East coast, below Lindos village

Pallas sits directly below Lindos village on the east coast of Rhodes, around forty five minutes by car from Rhodes town and the airport. The village centre is pedestrian only, so drivers use the car parks on the edge of Lindos and walk down through the lanes to the bay.

Frequent buses run between Rhodes town and Lindos through the summer, dropping at the village edge from where the beach is a short downhill walk. Water taxis and excursion boats also call at the bay, linking it to St Pauls Bay and nearby coves.

Because the walk down is easy but the climb back is uphill in the heat, bring water and sun cover and plan your return for cooler hours. The village just behind has everything else you need for the day.

Common questions about Pallas

Is Pallas beach good for families?

Yes. The main bay is sandy, sheltered and shallow, so it suits children in typical calm conditions, and sunbeds, snacks and water sports are all on hand. There is no guaranteed lifeguard, so supervise children closely.

How far is Pallas beach from Lindos village?

It is a short downhill walk of a few minutes from the pedestrian village to the sand. The return is uphill, so save it for a cooler part of the day and carry water in the heat.

Where is the best swimming on Pallas beach?

The main bay is shallow and calm, ideal for paddling, while the northern end near the small jetty has deeper, clearer water that rewards proper swimming and snorkelling.

Is Pallas beach crowded?

In July and August it is very busy, with full sunbed rows and a steady stream of visitors from the village. Early morning and late afternoon are far calmer, and June and September are the most comfortable months overall.

Can I visit St Pauls Bay from Pallas beach?

Yes. St Pauls Bay sits just around the headland below the Acropolis and is reachable on foot or by water taxi, offering a smaller, more sheltered cove with clearer water for snorkelling.
