Pefkos Beach
Best for. Families and couples who want a calmer base than Faliraki, with several small sandy coves, easy swimming and tavernas a short stroll from the sand.
Best spot. Lee Beach at the quieter eastern end, a small sheltered cove with calm clear water that is easier going than the busier main beach by the village.
Know this. Pefkos is a string of small coves rather than one long beach, so the good spots fill early. Walk a little past the main beach to find space and quieter water.
Pefkos, which you will also see written as Pefki, is the answer for travellers who want the east coast of Rhodes without the noise of Faliraki up the road. It grew from a quiet hamlet into a relaxed resort village, but it kept its scale, and the result is a string of small sandy and pebble coves rather than one big organised beach. That makes it feel softer and more local than the bigger resorts.
The swimming is the easy, reliable kind. The coves are sheltered and the water is clear and calm, shelving gently enough for children to paddle in typical conditions. The main beach by the village is the busiest and best served, while Lee Beach at the eastern end is the quieter pick, a small sheltered cove that rewards the short walk with calmer water and a bit more room.
The honest note is about expectations and size. Because Pefkos is a set of small coves, the prime sand near the tavernas fills early in July and August, and a latecomer can find the sunbeds gone and the best patches taken. The fix is to walk. A few minutes past the main beach almost always buys you space, and the village stays close enough for a cold drink whenever you want one.
Who should skip it. If you want a long unbroken sweep of sand or a lively club scene with music and daybeds, Pefkos is too gentle and too small, and Faliraki or the big organised beaches suit better. But for a calm family base with several swimming coves, easy tavernas and a friendly low key feel, Pefkos is one of the most likeable spots on this coast.
Tavernas and sunbeds, not a club scene
Pefkos is a relaxed resort village with sunbed concessions, snack bars and tavernas rather than a dressed up beach club. For daybeds and music, the larger clubs up the coast deliver more. Use the Rhodes beach clubs guide and keep Pefkos as the calm swim and the long taverna lunch.
Sunbed concessions across the coves
Umbrella and sunbed hire with snack bars and tavernas along the coves. There is no single branded club here, and any operator details are to be confirmed locally.
East coast, south of Lindos
Pefkos lies just south of Lindos on the east coast of Rhodes, around fifty minutes by car from Rhodes town and the airport and only a few minutes beyond Lindos itself. The coves are spread along the village front, each with its own parking and access lanes.
Buses run between Rhodes town, Lindos and Pefkos through the season, dropping in the village from where every cove is a short walk. With Lindos so close, many visitors split a day between the two by bus or car.
Parking is easiest at the quieter coves away from the main beach, so consider walking from there in peak season. The village behind the sand has shops, tavernas and everything else for a full day.

Common questions about Pefkos
Is Pefkos better than Faliraki for families?
For a calmer base, yes. Pefkos is a string of small, sheltered coves with easy swimming and tavernas, without the busy nightlife of Faliraki. Faliraki has a longer beach and more action, so the choice depends on the mood you want.
Which is the best beach in Pefkos?
The main beach by the village is the busiest and best served, while Lee Beach at the eastern end is the quieter, more sheltered cove. Walk a few minutes from the centre to find calmer water and more space.
Is the water calm at Pefkos?
Yes, in typical conditions the coves are sheltered, clear and gently shelving, which makes them good for paddling and easy swimming. There is no guaranteed lifeguard, so supervise children closely.
Is Pefkos close to Lindos?
Very close. Pefkos sits just south of Lindos, a few minutes by car or bus, so it is easy to combine a calm Pefkos morning with a Lindos afternoon.
Are the Pefkos beaches sandy or pebbly?
It varies by cove. Some are soft sand and others are fine pebble or a mix, so water shoes are handy at the rockier coves while the main beach is more comfortable underfoot.
