Le Cinque Vele sits at Marina di Pescoluse, on the Ionian shore they market as the Maldive del Salento, and it is the establishment the rest of the coast measures itself against. The editors of Italy’s national beach club guide gave it their maximum three umbrella rating in 2025, having finally got past the entry barrier to see what founder Alessandro Stivala built: an Exclusive quarter of six furnished gazebos, two graded Relax areas with maxi loungers and wide spacing, a lounge restaurant, and the Natural Sea Spa, a run of open air hydromassage pools folded into the Mediterranean scrub.
Every guest, whatever the tier, gets the quiet inclusions that usually cost extra: maxi terry towels handed over at the entrance, free cabins and showers, WiFi, internal parking with electric car charging, even a babysitting service with lunch included. A resort behind two rows of umbrellas
The Exclusive quarter is where the concierge theatre happens, and it is proper theatre. A multilingual host walks you in, the welcome pour is prosecco or an alcohol free cocktail, fruit arrives composed rather than cut, and the butlers keep what the club fairly calls a constant but discreet presence. The concierge desk books the internal diversions, cooking classes in the Salento tradition, massage rituals, the spa pools, and external ones, boat and yacht excursions or a winery visit inland. Evening guests in the Exclusive tier keep gazebo access in the Green Area before and after dinner in the lounge restaurant, which stretches the day well past sunset.
The standard is not marketing varnish. Beyond the guide’s top rating, the operation carries ISO 9001 and ISO 13009 certifications, management systems paperwork that almost no seasonal lido bothers with, and Pescoluse itself flew a Blue Flag again in 2026. The reviewers’ sharpest compliment was structural: on a coast overwhelmed by summer crowds, this is the place that actually delivers the standards the rest of the shoreline promises.
The honest caveats sit at the waterline. The sand frontage is genuinely small, about two umbrella rows deep, so the heart of the property is the landscaped interior rather than the shore, and the same friendly reviewers noted stones underfoot in the shallows. August pricing is the other filter: the engine reprices peak dates to figures that belong to special occasions, not ordinary Tuesdays. Come in June or September, or book the low rows early, and the sums soften considerably.

Finding it, booking it
The club sits on the coast road at Marina di Pescoluse, between Torre Pali and Santa Maria di Leuca at the very heel of Italy, roughly an hour south of Lecce by car. Arrival is resort style: you give the name on your booking at the barrier and park free inside, with charging points if you drive electric. There is no walk up culture here, entry is booked positions only, and the club’s online engine prices each date on demand, so the same gazebo can cost multiples of itself six weeks apart.
