Psarou is the beach that put Mykonos on the front of the glossy magazines. It is a small south facing cove, maybe a few hundred metres of fine golden sand, ringed by hills and pointed straight at the kind of clear flat water that the island is sold on. On a calm summer morning, before the music starts, it is genuinely beautiful.
Then the day fills up. Tenders ferry guests in from the yachts moored offshore, the sunbeds turn over, and by early afternoon Psarou is less a beach and more a stage. This is the home of Nammos, the club that more than any other defines the modern Mykonos of bottle service and big spending. If that scene is what you came for, there is no better address on the island.
The honest catch is the price and the crowd. A front row sunbed in high season costs more than a hotel room elsewhere, and in August the cove is full to the edges. The water is still lovely and the people watching is unmatched, but value is not the word that comes to mind.
Who it suits: anyone chasing the glamour version of Mykonos, couples who want to dress up for the beach, and groups happy to make a day of club service. Come for the spectacle and you will not be disappointed.
Who should skip it: if you want a quiet swim, a cheap towel spot or space to spread out, Psarou will frustrate you. For calmer and friendlier sand a short way along the coast, Platis Gialos or Paraga give you more room and less theatre.
Beach clubs near Psarou Beach
Psarou is defined by Nammos, the beach club that became shorthand for luxury Mykonos. Expect polished service, a famous lunch scene that drifts into afternoon music, and prices to match its reputation. It is the real thing rather than the hype, but it is not a budget day out. Current opening dates and minimum spend are best confirmed directly, and the wider island lineup sits in our Mykonos beach club directory.
Psarou Beach, Mykonos
Psarou sits on the south coast a short drive from Mykonos town, roughly ten minutes by taxi or bus, just west of Platis Gialos. The approach road drops down to a small car park that fills early, so a taxi or the local bus saves the parking stress in peak weeks. From the sand you can watch the tenders run out to the yachts moored across the bay.
- Book a sunbed ahead in July and August, as walk up space is scarce.
- Bring a card, since the club and most sunbed operators rarely deal in cash only.
- Arrive before midday if you want the calmest water and an easier parking run.

Psarou Beach questions
Is Psarou Beach worth it?
If you want the glamorous, club led side of Mykonos, yes. The water is clear, the sand is well kept and the scene is the real thing. If you want a quiet or cheap beach day, you will get better value at Paraga or Platis Gialos nearby.
How much does a sunbed at Psarou cost?
Prices are among the highest on the island and change by season and operator, so we do not quote a figure that could mislead you. Treat a front row day as a premium spend and confirm the rate when you book.
Is Nammos on Psarou Beach?
Yes. Nammos sits directly on Psarou and is the headline venue here. Opening dates and minimum spends vary by season and are best confirmed directly before you plan your day.
Can you swim at Psarou Beach?
Yes. The cove faces south and is usually calm, with a gentle entry and clear water that make for easy swimming. The busiest swimming is near the yacht moorings, so head to the quieter ends for more space.
When is the best time to visit Psarou?
June and September give you warm water and the summer scene with a little more breathing room than peak August. July and August are the liveliest and the most crowded.
