Jaz is the bay you come to when you want room to move. A couple of kilometres west of Budva over the headland, it is a long open sweep of pebble and gravel, big enough to swallow a crowd and busy with watersports rather than sunloungers cheek by jowl. If Mogren is the pretty little cove, Jaz is the wide active beach with space to throw a ball and a horizon of open sea.
It has a second life as a concert ground. A stage set back from the sand has hosted some of the biggest names in music over the years, and on event days the bay fills with tens of thousands. Most of the time, though, it is a straightforward beach day, with jet skis and parasails working the water, kayaks for hire and bars and a campsite behind. The far end is a former naturist section that stays quieter and gives you room to breathe.
The honest read is about exposure. Jaz faces the open Adriatic, so while the morning is usually calm and clear, the afternoon breeze can get up and put a genuine chop on the water and rattle the gravel underfoot. It is pebble, not sand, so water shoes earn their place. Come for the watersports and the space, swim early before the wind, and keep an eye on the event calendar so a concert day does not surprise you.
Jaz is an open watersports bay of bars and operators rather than a single club, with named riviera clubs a short drive east.
The bay is served by beach bars, sunbed hire and independent jet ski, parasail and kayak operators rather than a club. Rates, hours and any minimum spend are to be confirmed.
For a club day with pools and music, Kamenovo Beach Club east of Budva and Ploce on Cape Platamuni are the nearest named venues. See them in our directory.
Jaz is about two kilometres west of Budva, a short drive or taxi over the headland, with parking behind the beach that fills on summer weekends and concert days. There is no old town to walk from here, so most people arrive by car or local bus. Conditions are typical and never guaranteed.
Bring water shoes for the gravel, get in early for the calmest water, and keep clear of the marked jet ski and watercraft lanes when you swim. If a concert is booked on your date, plan for crowds and limited parking or pick another bay.
Jaz is an open watersports bay of bars and operators rather than one club, but tell us your date and party and we will point you to the named clubs of the Budva Riviera. No charge to enquire.
Jaz is pebble and coarse gravel rather than sand, so water shoes make it far more comfortable. It shelves into clear water that deepens fairly quickly, which suits confident swimmers, and the gravel can stir up when the afternoon wind puts a chop on the bay.
Yes. Jaz is one of the more active beaches on the Budva Riviera, with independent operators offering jet ski, parasail and kayak hire in season. The open bay gives plenty of room on the water, though their rates and hours are to be confirmed.
Yes. A concert ground set back from the sand has hosted some of the biggest names in music over the years, and event days draw very large crowds. It is worth checking whether a concert falls on your dates, as the bay and the parking fill completely.
Yes. The far end of the bay is a former naturist section that remains quieter and less crowded than the main stretch. The main beach is a standard mixed beach, so you can choose the busier scene or the calmer end depending on the day you want.
The morning is usually the calmest and clearest, because the bay faces the open sea and the afternoon breeze tends to build a chop. For an easy swim or a paddle, get in early, and treat a windy afternoon as a day for the watersports rather than a gentle float.
