Cala Turqueta is the cove people mean when they say they want Macarella without the circus. It is the third of the great southwest calas near Ciutadella, the same white sand and pool clear water, sheltered by the same pine and limestone, and on a calm morning it is every bit as beautiful as its more famous neighbour. The difference is the mood. Turqueta keeps its road access through the summer rather than handing over to the bus, so it draws families and day trippers rather than the full walking pilgrimage, and it tends to feel a shade calmer for it.
The value savvy read is simple. Your only real cost at Turqueta is the car park, and it is a small one, so the whole day turns on timing. Come before ten in the morning, take the free lot a little further out and walk the easy path in, and you get a near empty cove and a free swim for the price of the fuel. Roll up at one in the afternoon in August and you will circle a full car park, give up, and wish you had set an alarm. Bring your own food and water, keep the seasonal kiosk for a cold drink, and the day costs almost nothing.
Who should skip it? Anyone wanting sunbeds, a kitchen and an easy stroll from the car, who will be far happier at developed Cala Galdana a short drive away. And anyone chasing true solitude at peak, who should walk over to neighbouring Cala Macarelleta or save the wild north coast for a breezy day. Treat Turqueta as an early half day, pair it with Macarella along the coast path, and it is one of the best value mornings in the Mediterranean. Arrive late with no plan and the parking will do the punishing.

The only food and drink on the sand is a simple seasonal kiosk serving cold drinks, ice creams and snacks, open roughly June to September with hours and operator to be confirmed each year. Prices reflect having no competition for miles, so locals bring a picnic and keep the kiosk for a cold drink in the shade.
No club on the sand
Beyond the kiosk there is nothing, by design, as the cove is protected. For sunbed hire, a full restaurant or a sunset bar you head to the developed bays such as Cala Galdana nearby, or to Cova d'en Xoroi for the evening, all read honestly in our Menorca club directory.
Southwest calas, by car and on foot
Cala Turqueta sits on the southwest coast near Ciutadella, in the same protected pocket as Macarella and Macarelleta. Unlike its neighbours it keeps car access through the summer, reached along the country road south of the city, then a short walk from the car park to the sand.
There is a closer paid area and a free area about 850 metres out, both small, so the cheap and reliable move is to arrive before ten in the morning, take the free lot and walk in. Bring water, shade and a picnic, wear something you can walk the sandy path in, and start early to enjoy the cove before it fills and the parking turns into a lottery.

For value, drive to Turqueta early, park free and walk in, and you get the same turquoise for the price of a picnic.
