We have ranked the clubs that define the sea, and because we plan trips for a living we lead with the part most lists skip, which is how you actually arrive.
Some of these you drive to and park near. Others you reach only by boat, or on foot down a cliff path, and that access shapes the whole day. We tell you which is which, what to expect to pay, and where the mood has tipped from stylish to overrun. We never invent a figure, so where a club's terms shift by season we say to confirm them directly.

Verdict: the original and still the most charming. Reach it by road to the Pampelonne car parks then a short walk, or arrive by tender, and book lunch well ahead.

Verdict: the most atmospheric club in Greece and the one to time for sunset. A short taxi or transfer from Mykonos town gets you there, so reserve a bed ahead and expect a serious minimum on a prime summer day.

Verdict: the place to people watch at the top of the market, thrilling or exhausting depending on your mood. Reach it by road to Psarou or by tender from a boat, and go in knowing the August minimums are eye watering.

Verdict: the most charming escape on the Riviera, less flashy and more fun than the mainland clubs. It is reached only by a short boat hop, so plan the shuttle and let lunch run into the afternoon.

Verdict: the island's most beautiful daytime club and a break from the party machine. Drive to the cliff top and take the steps down to the cove, then come for lunch and a swim rather than a rave.

Verdict: the most polished urban beach club in the Balearics and an easy day out from the city. A short drive from Palma to Cala Estancia gets you there, so book a daybed in season and stay for the sunset session.

Verdict: the definitive Turkish beach club day, all long lunches and deep water swims off the platform. Reach it by road from Bodrum or by boat to the jetty, and book a daybed well ahead in summer.

Verdict: the definitive Dalmatian club day, polished and lively. It is reached by the free taxi boat from Hvar town, so plan the crossing and confirm any entry or minimum for the day you want.

Verdict: the most loved lunch on the Amalfi Coast and pure local theatre. There is no road, so look for the boat with the red fish flag at the Positano jetty, which runs guests across for free.

Verdict: pure high energy theatre, fun for a celebration and divisive for purists. Reach it by road to Pampelonne and the beach car parks, reserve a bed in season, and decide if you want a party or a quiet swim.

Verdict: the relaxed, grown up face of Ibiza and a lovely lunch and swim. Drive to the Es Cavallet car park then walk along the sand, and book a table or bed in season.
Start with the journey, because it is the part that goes wrong. The clubs on the open coast, such as Club 55, Nikki Beach and El Chiringuito, sit behind beach car parks that fill early in summer, so arrive in the morning or take a taxi. The island and rock clubs are a different exercise. La Guerite runs a boat shuttle from Cannes, Carpe Diem a taxi boat from Hvar town, Da Adolfo its own launch from the Positano jetty marked by a red fish, and La Fontelina is reached by boat from Marina Piccola or on foot down the Pizzolungo path. Build the boat into the booking, not the other way round.
On money, you rarely just walk in. The top clubs charge through a daybed or sunbed rate, a food and drink minimum, or both, and those numbers rise sharply from June to September and on weekends. We never quote a figure we cannot stand behind, so treat any price as to be confirmed and check directly when you reserve.
Then match the club to your mood, because the sea offers both extremes. Scorpios, Amante, La Guerite, Da Adolfo and El Chiringuito are about atmosphere, views and a long lunch, while Nammos, Nikki Beach and the busier Mykonos names are about energy and spectacle. Neither is better, but they are very different days, and the common mistake is booking the party club when you wanted the calm one.
It depends on the day you want. Club 55 on Pampelonne is the charming original, La Fontelina at Capri is the most romantic for a swim, Scorpios in Mykonos is the best for sunset, and Nammos is the place to people watch at the top of the market. The best one is the club whose mood and access match your plan.

For these, the boat is part of the booking, so plan the crossing first.
Most charge through a daybed rate, a food and drink minimum, or both, rather than a flat entry fee, and prices rise steeply in July and August. Because these terms change by season and are often unpublished, we mark them to be confirmed and suggest checking directly when you reserve rather than relying on a figure that may be out of date.
In peak season, absolutely. The best daybeds and lunch sittings at the famous clubs sell out, sometimes weeks ahead in August, and a few, such as La Fontelina, take bookings only by phone. Booking also locks in your minimum and your boat slot where one is needed, so reserve ahead whenever you can.
Amante on Ibiza's east coast, La Guerite on its island off Cannes, Da Adolfo near Positano and El Chiringuito at Es Cavallet trade spectacle for views, calm and a long lunch. They are the antidote to the party clubs and far better suited to a couple who want to swim, eat well and watch the light change over the sea.
If the club itself is the experience you want, yes. At their best they deliver a complete day of good food, the right crowd and water you want to swim in, which a public beach cannot match. If you mainly want sand and sea, the public beaches nearby are often free and lovely, so it comes down to whether you are paying for the atmosphere.
