A surprising amount of what ranks online, including one detailed 2026 guide, places Mumbas on the Drymades sand at Dhermi instead and hangs a full party programme on it. Follow those directions and you will stand on the wrong beach an hour of switchbacks from your sunbed.

What actually trades at Llamani is simpler and, for the right visitor, better: fringed umbrellas and padded loungers on water so clear the swimming is the headline, a restaurant behind the pebbles that regulars call genuinely good, and a bar that keeps an Instagram audience of nearly a hundred thousand fed with cove shots. The case for the day is the cove itself. Llamani is a compact horseshoe of white pebbles under scrubby cliffs, and the water in front of the beds runs that backlit turquoise the Ionian saves for its smallest bays. Reviewers who liked Mumbas really liked it: comfortable padded loungers, pillows on the beds, welcoming staff, fresh cooking and cocktails good enough that one visitor called the restaurant high class and worth the premium for a day or two. The bean bags scattered along the pebbles and a low volume daytime playlist keep it closer to a swimming club than a scene, whatever the party listings claim.

The criticism is just as specific, and it is all about money handling. One account describes being stopped for the bed payment at the entrance before choosing a spot. Another, blunt enough to title itself a warning, reports five separate charging errors on a single order, with the card machine showing a different figure than the receipt. Equally recent reviews praise the same staff warmly, so the honest conclusion is not that Mumbas is a trap; it is that the systems are loose enough that your bill is your own responsibility. Agree the bed price before you sit, keep a running list of what you order, and read the receipt line by line before tapping the card. On a coast where cash still smooths most things, small notes help too.

The last thing to price in is shade and space. The umbrellas photograph beautifully but at least one review notes the fringed mesh lets real sun through at midday, so a hat is not optional in August. And because the cove is small and the furniture is the business, there is no meaningful free stretch to retreat to once the beds fill; this is a commit or skip beach, not a spread your towel beach. If the reported 20 EUR bed is more than the swim is worth to you, the honest alternative is the long free sand at Himare town beach ten minutes north, with a fraction of the polish and none of the arithmetic.

Llamani is one of the pocket coves strung between Himara and Porto Palermo, a short bay walled in by rock with water that shelves quickly into swimmable blue. From Himara town the run south is short: follow the coastal road toward Porto Palermo for about 3.5 km and take the signed drop to Llamani. A taxi from town is a few minutes; drivers all know the cove. If you are navigating yourself, set the pin to Llamani Beach or to the club itself and ignore any route that sends you north toward Dhermi, which is the wrong Mumbas of the internet. Parking arrangements at the cove change with the season and are to be confirmed, so in July and August the morning arrival is the safe play for both a space and a front row bed.
