Phi Beach

Every beach club on this coast sells you the sea. Phi Beach is the one that sells you the light. The venue takes its address from Forte Cappellini, the old fortification crowning the Baja Sardinia headland, and the club is not so much built on the site as draped over it: sunbeds slotted between wind smoothed boulders, walkways and terraces stepping down the rock, the fort’s silhouette worked into the club’s own graphics. Because the headland looks west over the strait, it owns the one asset money struggles to buy around Porto Cervo, a proper over the water sunset, and the whole operation is choreographed around that hour.

Since summer 2025 the daytime beach and restaurant have carried the blue and white stripes of Nammos Baja Sardinia, back for 2026 alongside Luciano’s, the renewed restaurant, while the night remains pure Phi: open air DJ sets running all July. Study the beach map before you pay, because the word beach is doing careful work here. Area D holds the true sand beds, tucked behind the cabanas rather than at the waterline. The garden beds and both lounger rows sit on elevated platforms, and the premium M beds occupy a timber terrace bolted to the rocks with open water below. That last option is the one the photographs love, and for once they are honest: the terrace at golden hour, granite glowing rose behind the beds, is among the best composed scenes on the island. What the wide angle hides is scale. The sand pocket is small, the levels stack close, and in August the site feels dense in a way the imagery never admits.

The infrastructure gap is stated plainly in the club’s own FAQ and is worth reading twice at this price tier: no showers and no changing rooms. You arrive at noon dressed for the day, rinse in the sea, and change at your hotel. Towels, an umbrella and bedside service from a reduced menu are real, but anyone expecting the full cabana ritual of a resort beach should recalibrate. This is a rock venue with a beach attached, not the reverse.

The last thing to grasp is the day’s architecture. The prepaid beach window closes at 18:00, exactly when the headland starts doing the thing it is famous for, and staying on for sunset and the DJs means the separate evening ticket. That is staging, not a trap, the venue resets for its second act, but budget for both acts if the golden hour is why you came. Baja Sardinia is the north west corner of the Costa Smeralda triangle, a resort village on granite facing the Maddalena islands rather than the open east. Swimming off the club means rock entries into deep clear water more than wading off sand, part of why the buoy field and tender matter here. If your ideal day is a long shallow bay of pale sand, Capriccioli and Liscia Ruja deliver exactly that a short drive south east, then come back to this headland when the sun starts dropping.

By road, the club is a short drive from Porto Cervo, and its paid lot is the only parking, priced from 5 to 20 euros with the season. By sea it is smoother: reserve a buoy, moor up to 30 meters, and call the free tender on +39 331 3814831 to be run ashore.
