The Nikki Beach formula is consistent from Saint Tropez to Dubai, and Cala Petra Ruja gets the full version: white beds in rows, champagne rituals, a restaurant that flips into a high energy DJ room at three in the afternoon, and a crowd that dressed for the boat ride. The setting does a lot of the work. The cove itself is classic Costa Smeralda, clear water over pale sand framed by wind rounded granite, and arriving across it by tender is a better opening act than any car park.

The rulebook tells you the club’s priorities plainly. Multiple restaurant seatings with possible time limits mean your table is a slot, not an afternoon lease. The child policy draws a hard line at 3pm. The refusal list at the door runs from stag props to glitter, and the club reserves the right to turn away a guest who prepaid. None of this is hidden, and to the club’s credit it is all published, but you should read it as what it is: a venue protecting an atmosphere, with the guest experience shaped around that goal.

Where it falls short is value for the undecided. Because the bed is prepaid, non refundable in cash terms, and separate from lunch, a hesitant couple can commit several hundred euros before tasting a thing. On a mistral day when the crossing is lumpy, or in June when the scene is half asleep, the same money buys a long lunch above Capriccioli with change to spare. Commit when you want the party at full production, mid July to late August, and go elsewhere for a quiet swim.

Petra Ruja means red stone, and the cove sits in the run of famous sand between Capriccioli and Liscia Ruja, the stretch that made the Costa Smeralda’s name. The water is typically calm and shallow near the shore, sharpening to that improbable emerald over the sand bars. One published detail worth knowing: the club notes this is not a designated dog friendly beach, so pets stay on the sunbed. Plan the boat first, because there is no second option, the club’s own policy states access is exclusively by water. Tenders and charters run from Porto Cervo and the surrounding marinas in season, and the club can advise transfer arrangements when you reserve. Then decide what you are booking: a beach bed, which is prepaid with the 6.5 percent fee and does not include a table, a restaurant seating, which is guaranteed against a card and time limited, or a bar slot.
