The verdict

Best for. Travellers who want the island's big day club energy, a large pool, sunbeds, music and a sociable young crowd rather than a quiet natural beach.

Best spot. A daybed by the pool at Punda Coast in the early afternoon, before the music builds, if you want the scene with a little room to breathe.

Know this. This is a club beach, not a wild one, and it is the east coast Pounda by Logaras, not the Pounta ferry point on the west; come for the party, not for seclusion.

The honest read

Pounda is where Paros turns up the volume. On the sheltered east coast near Logaras, this stretch of sand is given over largely to Punda Coast, the biggest and most developed beach club on the island, built around a large swimming pool ringed by sunbeds and cabanas, with bars, food and daytime DJ sets that build through the afternoon. For travellers who want a sociable, high energy day by a pool and the sea, with music and a young crowd, this is the address.

The honest read is that Pounda is a club first and a beach second, so set your expectations accordingly. The pool and the programme are the point, the natural beach is modest, and in high summer it can be busy, loud and pitched at a party crowd, which is wonderful if that is your day and wearing if it is not. It is also worth clearing up a common mix up, as this east coast Pounda by Logaras is a different place from Pounta on the west coast, which is the Antiparos ferry point and a kitesurf launch rather than a day club.

Come to Pounda for the scene and you will be well served, with one of the few proper big pool club days in the Cyclades. Come for a quiet natural swim and you should look elsewhere, as the calm sandy neighbours at Logaras and Piso Livadi sit minutes away and the long family sand of Golden Beach is close by. The smart play is to decide which day you want before you arrive, and if it is the party, book a bed ahead in peak season.

The club layer

The big pool club

Pounda is effectively one large beach club, Punda Coast, rather than a row of venues. For how it compares with the rest of the island, see the Paros beach clubs guide.

Punda Coast

Punda Coast is the island's big pool and party beach club, a large developed venue on the east coast sand with a swimming pool, sunbeds, cabanas, bars, food and daytime DJ sets and events. It is the place for a sociable, high energy day rather than a quiet swim, and it runs busiest in July and August. Entry, sunbed hire and any minimum spend are set by the venue and to be confirmed. Book a bed ahead at peak times.

Getting there and essentials

On the east coast near Logaras

Pounda lies on the east coast near Logaras and Marpissa, about twenty minutes by car from Parikia and the airport and roughly twenty five to thirty from Naoussa. The road is easy and there is parking by the club, though it fills on event days, so a hire car or scooter is the simplest way to come and go.

Remember that this is the east coast Pounda, reached from the Marpissa side, and not Pounta on the west coast by the Antiparos ferry. Come earlier on a peak day for a bed and a parking space, bring sun cover for the time you are not under a cabana, and book ahead in high summer when the club is at its busiest.

Common questions about Pounda

What is Pounda beach Paros known for?

It is known for Punda Coast, the island's biggest and most developed beach club, built around a large swimming pool with sunbeds, cabanas, bars and daytime DJ sets on the sheltered east coast. It is a party and pool day rather than a quiet natural beach, busiest in July and August.

Is Pounda the same as the Antiparos ferry point?

No, and the names cause confusion. This east coast Pounda near Logaras is the big pool beach club, while Pounta on the west coast is the Antiparos ferry departure point and a kitesurf launch rather than a day club. Set your map to the Marpissa side for the club.

Do you have to pay to go to Punda Coast?

Access is organised around the beach club, with sunbeds, cabanas and pool areas, so a typical day means hiring a bed and there may be a minimum spend at busy times. Exact entry, hire and minimum spend are set by the venue and to be confirmed, and beds book up in peak season.

Is Pounda good for families?

It can be by day, with shallow calm water and a pool, but it is pitched at a sociable party crowd and gets loud and busy in high summer, which may not suit young children. For a gentler family swim, the calm sand at Logaras and Piso Livadi sits minutes away. Conditions are typical rather than guaranteed.

When is Pounda busiest?

July and August, when Punda Coast runs its events and the crowd is at its peak. June and September are calmer if you want the pool and the sand without the full party, and mornings are quieter than afternoons before the music builds. Conditions and programmes are set locally and to be confirmed.
