The lagoon beach is the soft sand half of the Oludeniz postcard, the low curving spit at Kumburnu that wraps around the still turquoise water inside the nature park. Where our Blue Lagoon guide is about the calm protected swim, this is the place to actually lie on sand, the gentlest underfoot in Oludeniz and a world away from the grey shingle of the open beach.
On value the honest read matches the lagoon. The spit sits inside the protected park, so there is a small per person fee at the gate and loungers cost extra, but in return you get the softest sand, the calmest shallow water and the famous view. It is money well spent with young children or if you simply want to sink your toes into real sand, which is rare on this stretch.
The smart move is to arrive early. The spit is narrow and fills as the morning boats and day trippers come in, so soon after opening you get soft sand, still water and space. If the fee does not appeal, the open Belcekiz beach a few steps outside the gate is free, with the same backdrop, just shingle underfoot and livelier open sea.
The lagoon beach is a protected park rather than a club strip, so the serviced day means a hired sunbed inside the gate. We describe it factually and route enquiries through our directory, never inventing fees or amenities.
A private Blue Flag beach club on the sand on the lagoon side, with loungers, a kitchen and calm swimming, the most comfortable serviced day on the spit. Verdict: a relaxed, well kept choice if you want service with the soft sand and calm water, so confirm any day entry and lounger charge before you go.
Inside the protected park, sunbeds and umbrellas are hired by the day on the spit beside the still water, the simplest way to settle in on the soft sand. Verdict: pay the park fee, then the lounger hire on top, both modest and to be confirmed, for the famous turquoise calm.
The lagoon beach sits at the south end of the bay where the spit curls into the nature park, a short walk along the front from Belcekiz village and the dolmus stop. The frequent dolmus minibus runs down from Fethiye in around half an hour, and there is paid parking near the park gate, where you pay the small entrance fee.
Bring water shoes for the shingle edges, plenty of water and your own shade if you would rather not hire an umbrella, and carry some cash for the gate and the cafes. Arrive early for the soft sand and calm water at their best, and remember the free open beach next door is the no cost alternative when the park is busy.
Tell us your date and party and we will point you to the right beach club style venues at Oludeniz and the wider Fethiye coast, from the calm lagoon side to the lively open beach. No charge to enquire.
The Blue Lagoon is the still protected water itself, the calm swim and the icon. The lagoon beach is the soft sand spit at Kumburnu that forms it, the place to lie on sand and paddle. Both sit inside the same nature park and share the small entry fee.
Yes, the spit at Kumburnu is the softest sand in Oludeniz, a low curve of sand and fine shingle, far gentler underfoot than the grey shingle of the open beach. Water shoes still help at the shingle edges, but this is the place for real sand on this coast.
Yes, the lagoon beach lies inside the Oludeniz Nature Park with a small per person entrance fee, and sunbeds and umbrellas cost extra on top. The fee is modest and to be confirmed. The open Belcekiz beach just outside the gate is free.
It is one of the best family spots in Oludeniz, with soft sand, calm warm shallow water and a gentle shelving entry on the lagoon side. Facilities inside are simple, so bring water and sun cover, and keep children clear of the boat channel.
Go early, soon after the park opens, before the morning boats and day trippers fill the narrow spit. You will get soft sand, still water and space. June and September give warm calm water with thinner crowds, the best value weeks for the lagoon beach.
