Lia is the beach you drive to when you want the south coast water without anything else getting in the way. It sits at the far southeast end of the island, the last organised cove on that stretch, and the reward for the longer drive is some of the clearest water on Mykonos. On a calm morning you can stand waist deep and count the pebbles under your feet.
That clarity is why Lia has quietly become the islands favourite spot for snorkelling and diving. The rocky points at either end of the cove hold fish, the bottom drops away gently, and a dive outfit operates here in season for anyone who wants to go deeper. Even if you never put your face in the water, the colour of the sea alone justifies the trip.
The beach itself is organised but understated. There are sunbeds and umbrellas, a calm beach restaurant called Liasti at the back, and not much else, which is the point. Lia is where you come to read, swim, eat a long lunch and let the afternoon stretch out, rather than to be seen. The volume stays low and the pace stays slow.
Who it suits: couples who want a quiet romantic day, swimmers and snorkellers chasing clear water, and anyone willing to trade a longer drive for a thinner crowd. It is one of the most reliably calm and beautiful beach days on the island.
Who should skip it: party seekers will find nothing happening here and should head west to Paradise or Super Paradise, and anyone without a car or scooter may find the distance and the limited bus service more effort than it is worth.
Beach clubs near Lia Beach
Lia is a swimming and snorkelling beach rather than a party beach, and we will not pretend otherwise. You will find organised sunbeds, a dive outfit and the relaxed Liasti beach restaurant for a long lunch, but the daybed and club scene sits back west at Paradise, Super Paradise and Paraga. Lia Beach, Mykonos
Lia sits at the far southeast end of Mykonos, roughly 20 minutes by car from Mykonos town along the road past Kalo Livadi. There is parking behind the beach and a limited seasonal bus, but a car or scooter makes the trip far easier. The southern taxi boats also reach Lia on the coastal loop, which is the most relaxed way to arrive.
- Drive or take a scooter, as the bus to this far corner is infrequent.
- Pack a snorkel, since the clear rocky water here is the main event.
- Bring shade and water if you want to settle in for the whole day.

Lia Beach questions
Is Lia Beach worth the drive?
Yes if you value clear water and quiet over convenience. Lia has some of the clearest sea on Mykonos and a thin crowd even in high summer, which is the direct payoff for being the farthest organised beach from town.
Is Lia Beach good for snorkelling?
It is one of the best on the island. The rocky points at either end of the cove hold fish and the water is exceptionally clear, and a dive outfit operates here in season for those who want to go further out.
Is there a beach club at Lia?
There is a relaxed beach restaurant called Liasti with sunbeds rather than a party club. The atmosphere is calm and low volume, so for daybeds and music head west to Paradise, Super Paradise or Paraga.
How do you get to Lia Beach?
Lia is about 20 minutes by car from Mykonos town past Kalo Livadi, with parking behind the beach and a limited seasonal bus. The southern taxi boats also stop here on the coastal loop.
Is Lia Beach crowded?
It is one of the quieter organised beaches on Mykonos because of the distance. It fills up on peak August days, but it rarely feels as packed as the closer south coast coves, so arriving early still secures a good spot.
