Lanzarote is an island of black lava fields, protected coves and wind sculpted dunes, and its night reflects that calm. There is a real evening scene here, but it is a resort one of beachfront bars, music terraces and long seafood dinners rather than a club culture, and it lives almost entirely in one town. Set your expectations to that and the island delivers a warm, easy night. Arrive expecting a party island and you will wonder where it went.

We have ranked the beaches by where the evening actually gathers, from the busy Puerto del Carmen strip to the quieter resorts and, honestly, the wild beach where the only show is the stars. As a naturalist I rate the volcanic coast far above the bar strip, so I will tell you where the night is and where the real Lanzarote evening sits.

The short version. Puerto del Carmen owns the night along Playa Grande and Los Pocillos, Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca keep it gentler, and Famara is the wild antidote where you swap the strip for a fish supper and a sky full of stars.

Ranked for the night

The best party beaches

Matched to how loud a night you actually want.

01
East, Puerto del Carmen

Playa Grande

The long golden strand of Puerto del Carmen and the island liveliest beach, backed by the Avenida and its endless line of bars, terraces and seafood restaurants. The night here is sociable and busy rather than wild, a stroll of music bars and late terraces by the sand. It is the strongest scene on Lanzarote, and the old harbour nearby keeps the best fish dinners in town.

02
East, Puerto del Carmen

Los Pocillos

The calmer neighbour along the same Puerto del Carmen front, a broad beach with the strip thinning to a quieter run of restaurants and hotel bars. It suits travellers who want the resort within reach but a gentler evening and an easier morning swim. Close enough to walk to the louder heart of Playa Grande, far enough to sleep, the sensible base for the south east night.

03
East, Costa Teguise

Las Cucharas

The main beach of Costa Teguise and the island windsurf headquarters, with a promenade of bars and restaurants behind a breezy golden bay. The evening is relaxed and family adjacent rather than a late scene, a meal and a drink by the sea more than a club. A steady, low key resort night that pairs well with active days on the water.

04
South, Yaiza

Playa Blanca

The calm southern resort, sheltered town beaches linked by a long flat promenade of restaurants out to the Marina Rubicon. The night is the gentlest of the three resorts, a sunset stroll, a marina dinner and a quiet drink rather than a bar crawl. Choose it for an easy, grown up evening and the boats to Papagayo and Fuerteventura from the harbour.

North, Teguise

Famara

Not a party, and gloriously so. A vast wild sweep of golden sand under towering cliffs, shaped by the wind, with the laid back village of La Caleta serving the freshest fish on the coast. The night here is a sundowner, a long supper and a sky thick with stars, the real Lanzarote evening for a naturalist. Strong currents make it a beach for surfers, so come for the scene more than the swim.

The honest read

The honest read on the night

The single thing to understand is that Lanzarote is a calm volcanic island with a contained resort night, not a party destination. The scene runs hot only along the Puerto del Carmen front, warm at Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca, and fades to nothing in the wild north and the protected south. Where you base yourself decides your evening. Stay in Puerto del Carmen for bars on your doorstep, stay in the villages for stars and silence and a drive to find any of it.

For the busiest evening it is Playa Grande on the Avenida, sociable and a little brash, with Los Pocillos as the quieter neighbour for an easier morning. Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca keep it gentle and family adjacent, more about a good dinner and a sundowner than a late one. Venues, opening hours and any cover change with the season, so we never invent them and mark anything unconfirmed as to be confirmed.

The overrated assumption is that any Canary island runs like Ibiza or the busiest corners of Tenerife. Lanzarote does not, by design and by planning rules that have kept it low rise and calm. The reward is the rest of the coast, Papagayo, Famara and the lava shaped coves, and an evening that is warm rather than wild. Conditions, tides and currents are typical only and never guaranteed, so respect the protected beaches and confirm what is open before you head out.

Beach clubs and the day to night

Browse Lanzarote beach clubs

A beach club on Lanzarote bridges a sunny afternoon and a relaxed evening, with loungers and a pool by day and music and cocktails as the sun drops, mostly around Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and the Marina Rubicon at Playa Blanca. The wild beaches keep it to a simple bar or nothing at all, which is the appeal. We never invent a venue, a line up or a minimum spend, so unconfirmed details are marked to be confirmed. Browse the directory and send one enquiry to lock your date.

Good questions

Before you go

Where is the best nightlife in Lanzarote?

Puerto del Carmen. The Avenida behind Playa Grande carries the island main strip of beachfront bars, music terraces and late restaurants, the busiest scene on Lanzarote. Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca offer gentler resort evenings, while the wild beaches in the north keep it to a sundowner and a fish supper. For the loudest night, base near Playa Grande.

Is Lanzarote a good party island?

It is good for a sociable resort night rather than a club holiday. Lanzarote is a calm volcanic island, kept low rise by planning rules, so the evening is bars, terraces and long dinners rather than big clubs. The strongest scene is contained in Puerto del Carmen. For an island built around clubbing you would look elsewhere, and for wild beaches and easy evenings Lanzarote is a fine choice.

Which resort is liveliest at night?

Puerto del Carmen is the liveliest, with its long Avenida of bars and restaurants behind Playa Grande and Los Pocillos. Costa Teguise is steadier and more family adjacent, and Playa Blanca is the calmest, built around the marina and a sunset stroll. Match the resort to the evening you want, loud and sociable in Puerto del Carmen, gentle in the other two.

Are there beach clubs in Lanzarote?

Yes, mostly around Puerto del Carmen, Costa Teguise and the Marina Rubicon at Playa Blanca, running day to sunset sessions with loungers, music and food. Names, opening status and any minimum spend change over time, so we mark those details as to be confirmed and suggest checking the current line up before you go. Browse our directory and send one enquiry to confirm your date.

Where is the wild alternative to the resort night?

Famara in the north. A vast wild beach under cliffs with the village of La Caleta behind it, where the evening is a sundowner, fresh fish and a sky full of stars rather than a bar strip. Papagayo in the protected south is the day time equivalent, quiet golden coves with no development. Both are the real Lanzarote, calm and natural away from the resorts.
