Ban Tai
The satellite of the scene, a long quiet stretch between Thong Sala and Haad Rin that carries the in between nights, the jungle and half moon style events held back from the shore. The beach itself is shallow and weedy at low tide and the real appeal is the value and the easy reach of the south coast venues. Haad Yuan

The single thing to understand is that Koh Phangan is a wild island with one loud corner, not a party island. The Full Moon machine runs at Haad Rin, the in between nights gather at Ban Tai, and beyond that southern tip the coast turns to jungle, boat access coves and reef. Where you sleep decides your trip. Base at Haad Rin and you are in the thick of it, fun for a night and exhausting for a week. Base in the north and you can dip into the party on the right date and retreat to silence.
