Jeju is Korea's holiday island, a volcanic green world of lava coast, white sand and clear water off the southern tip of the peninsula. If you arrive expecting Mediterranean beach clubs with velvet ropes and minimum spends, set that aside, because Jeju does beaches differently. Here the sand is free and public, the swimming season is short and sharp around July and August, and the real coastal scene is a celebrated cafe culture, oceanview rooms of glass where Koreans come for coffee and a sea view all year. The one place that feels like a true beach club is The Cliff above Jungmun.
Every venue below is a real, established place described honestly for what it is. The value is built in, with the best beaches free to use and only summer umbrella hire to pay, while the cafes and The Cliff charge for what you order rather than a fee to sit on the sand. Prices and event entry move with the season, so we keep them as to be confirmed. The smart move is to treat Jeju as a coast of free beaches and great cafes, with The Cliff saved for the evening you want a pool and a drink with a view.

Real, established venues only, from the one true lounge at Jungmun to the oceanfront cafes and the free public beaches. Prices move with the season, so we mark them to be confirmed.
| Venue | Area | Vibe | Minimum spend | Booking note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| The Cliff | Jungmun, Seogwipo | Oceanview lounge, pool, DJ nights | To be confirmed | The closest Jeju has to a beach club, a stylish lounge and bar on the cliff above Jungmun with a pool, sea views and occasional DJ and pool party events. The pick for a sundowner or a night out with a view. Any event entry or table minimum is to be confirmed. |
| Monsant | Aewol | Glass oceanfront design cafe | To be confirmed | A celebrated glass walled cafe on the Aewol coast with floor to ceiling sea views, one of the most photographed oceanfront spots on the island. A daytime lounge over coffee rather than a swim and sunbed venue. Cafe prices apply and are to be confirmed. |
| Cafe Del Moondo | Jocheon | Oceanfront cafe, terrace, sunsets | To be confirmed | A relaxed oceanfront cafe on the north coast with a terrace over the water and an easy sunset mood, a local favourite for a long coffee by the sea. Again a cafe rather than a club, but a lovely place to lounge. Conditions are typical and never guaranteed. |
| Jungmun Saekdal Beach | Seogwipo, south coast | Resort beach, surf, watersports | To be confirmed | The island's resort beach, a curve of golden and grey sand backed by the Jungmun tourist complex, with surf, watersports and lifeguards in summer. Free to use, with umbrella and gear hire in season. The pick for an active beach day on the south coast. |
| Hyeopjae Beach | Hallim, northwest coast | Free white sand beach, cafes behind | To be confirmed | The classic Jeju beach, a long sweep of white sand and shallow turquoise water facing Biyangdo island, lined with cafes and busy in summer. Free to use, with summer umbrella hire. The honest best free beach on the island for a swim and a view. |
When the coast is best in Jeju
For swimming, the window is short, mainly July and August, when the public beaches open with lifeguards and the cafes and The Cliff are at their liveliest. Late June and early September stay warm enough to enjoy the water with fewer crowds. Spring and autumn are glorious for walking the coast and the cafes but really too cool for the sea, and winter is cold and clear, beautiful for views rather than swims. Jeju is busiest in the summer holidays and on Korean long weekends, so book ahead for those dates.
Doing the coast, the honest way
You rarely need to book a beach in Jeju, as they are free and open, with umbrellas and mats hired on the sand in summer. The cafes take walk ins outside the busiest weekends, though the famous ones like Monsant can have a wait at peak times. The Cliff is worth checking ahead for its event nights. Hire a car to follow the coast road between the northwest beaches, the Aewol cafes and the south coast, carry a card as Korea is largely cashless, and pace your days around the short swimming season.
Dress is relaxed, swimwear in summer with a layer for the cafes and the evening. Send your date and party size through the form below and we will help you plan a beach and lounge day, at no cost to you.
Book a beach club in Jeju
A few essentials
Jeju has its own busy airport with frequent flights from Seoul and other Korean and regional cities, and a hire car is the easiest way to follow the coast, as the beaches and cafes are spread around the ring road. Korea is largely cashless, so a card covers almost everything. The volcanic coast can be rocky between the sand beaches, water shoes help, and the famous cafes get busy at weekends. Swimming conditions are typical and never guaranteed, with the season short and the currents stronger on exposed coasts.
Before you go
Does Jeju have beach clubs?
Not in the Mediterranean sense, and it is fairer to set expectations than to pretend otherwise. Jeju is an island of free public beaches and a famous oceanfront cafe culture rather than rows of paid daybeds. The closest thing to a true beach club is The Cliff above Jungmun, an oceanview lounge with a pool and DJ nights. The rest of the scene is design cafes by the water and resort beaches you can use for nothing.
Which is the best beach club in Jeju?
For a lounge with a pool, a bar and DJ events, The Cliff above Jungmun Beach is the standout and the one place that feels like a club. For a daytime oceanfront lounge, the Aewol cafes such as Monsant are the local favourite, with floor to ceiling sea views and good coffee. The honest pick depends on the hour, a cafe by day and The Cliff for a sundowner.
How much does a Jeju beach club or lounge cost?
The beaches themselves are free, which is the value here, with only sun umbrella and mat hire to pay in summer. The oceanfront cafes charge cafe prices for coffee and cake, and The Cliff charges for food, drinks and any event entry rather than a minimum spend. Exact figures move with the season and the event, so we mark them as to be confirmed.
When can you swim in Jeju?
The official swimming season at the public beaches is short, mainly July and August, when lifeguards are on duty and umbrellas and mats are for hire. The sea is warm enough to enjoy from late June into September, but spring and autumn are really for walking the coast and the cafes rather than swimming. Winter is cold and bright, lovely for views but not the water.
Which Jeju beach is best?
Hyeopjae on the northwest coast is the classic, a long white sand beach with shallow turquoise water and the green hump of Biyangdo offshore. Hamdeok in the north is family friendly and pretty, Jungmun on the south coast is the resort beach with surf and watersports, and Iho Tewoo near the city is the easy option with its photogenic horse lighthouses. Each is free to use.
