Da Nang has a clear split between a long dry season and a shorter, sharper wet one, and for a beach trip that split is the whole story. From roughly February to August the weather is warm and stable, the sea is at its calmest, and a family day is easy to plan. From September the northeast monsoon brings the rain, the surf builds, and the coast becomes far less reliable for swimming.
The honest sweet spot for most families is March to early summer. By March and April the air is warm, the sea has lost its winter chill, the rain is low and the crowds are smaller than the domestic summer peak from May to July. This guide breaks the year down month by month for air, sea, rain, crowds and an honest verdict, then picks out the months that really matter. Conditions are typical for the season and never guaranteed.

The months that matter
February and March are the quiet shoulder. The weather is dry and settled and the beaches are uncrowded, which is lovely for a calm family day, though the sea is still on the cool side in February before it warms through March. If you want space and calm water over the warmest swimming, this is the window to aim for.
April through August is the prime swimming stretch. The sea is warm, the rain is low and the water is at its most reliable for children, with April the gentlest before the heat and the domestic crowds peak from May to July. Expect hot midday sun, busy afternoons on the main beaches, and your best days if you swim early and shelter in the middle of the day.
September is the turn. The northeast monsoon arrives, rain increases and the surf begins to build, so while early September can still offer good days, conditions become unpredictable. By October, the rainiest month, and into November, the sea is often rough and the typhoon risk is at its highest, running through to around the tenth of December. These are not the months for a relaxed family swim.
December begins to settle again. The rain eases through the month, the crowds are thin and the sea gradually calms toward the new year, although the water is cooler and the occasional late typhoon is still possible early on. It can be a peaceful time to walk the sand, with swimming better treated as a bonus than a plan.
Where to book a daybed
If you are timing a beach club day, the same calendar applies. The clubs and beach bars along My Khe and My An are at their liveliest and most reliable through the dry season from February to August, and many wind down or close through the wet months, so confirm opening dates directly outside summer.
For a bookable day in the right window, tell us the beach, the date and the party size and we will match you to a club or lounger setup and pass your request to the team.

What is the best month to visit Da Nang for the beach?
March and April are the sweet spot: warm air, a sea that has lost its winter chill, low rain and smaller crowds than the domestic summer peak. The wider dry season from February to August is all good for swimming.
When is the rainy season in Da Nang?
The wet season runs from around September to December, driven by the northeast monsoon. October is the rainiest month, and the sea is often rough through October and November, which makes these poor months for a relaxed beach day.
When is typhoon season in Da Nang?
The highest typhoon risk runs from around the start of September to early December, peaking in October and November. Weaker systems can occasionally pass between late April and June. Always check forecasts close to your travel dates.
Is the sea warm enough to swim year round in Da Nang?
The sea stays warm enough for swimming most of the year, dropping to its coolest of around 23C in February. The real limit in the wet months is not temperature but rough surf and typhoon risk rather than cold water.
Is Da Nang too crowded in summer?
The main beaches such as My Khe get busy on summer afternoons from May to July with domestic holidaymakers. Swim early for calm water and space, or choose the quieter sand at Bac My An or Non Nuoc for a more peaceful day.
