Seclusion is the one thing money cannot reliably buy on a popular coast, and the Costa Blanca is honest about this. The wild coves below the northern cliffs are stunning, clear and a world away from the resort beaches, but they are no secret, so the difference between a peaceful morning and a packed cove is almost always timing rather than spending. The good news for a value traveller is that timing is free, and the quietest beaches here ask only an early start or a shoulder season visit.

We have ranked the beaches below for genuine quiet and a sense of escape, and we have been straight about the catch on each one. The dramatic pebble coves at Benitatxell and Javea give the strongest feeling of wildness, the long southern beaches let you walk to space even in summer, and the gentler northern coves reward an early arrival before the parking fills. None of them are remote in the true sense, but several deliver real peace if you go at the right hour.

If you take one line from this page, take this one. For the wildest feeling head to Cala del Moraig or Cala Granadella at dawn or out of season, walk the quieter ends of the long beach at Guardamar when you want space for nothing, and treat the small coves as morning trips, because by midday in summer the quiet is gone and so is the parking.

Ranked for seclusion

The quietest coves and stretches

Real peace first, and the honest catch on each.

01
Benitatxell

Cala del Moraig

A dramatic pebble cove below sheer cliffs with clear deep water and the Cova dels Arcs sea cave at one end. Wilder and more striking than the resort beaches, with limited facilities and tight parking, it feels genuinely remote early in the day. Arrive at dawn or out of season, because by late morning in summer the small car park is full and the peace is gone.

02
Javea

Cala Granadella

Regularly voted one of the best beaches in Spain, a small pebble cove of astonishingly clear turquoise water framed by pine covered cliffs. The catch is its fame, so parking is very limited and it fills early. Go at dawn or in the shoulder months and you can have a near private swim for nothing, but in peak August it is anything but secluded.

03
Moraira

Cala del Portet

A small, sheltered, sandy cove with calm clear water that feels tucked away out of season and early in the morning. It is prettier and quieter than the town beaches, though it is popular and parking is very tight, so walk in from Moraira and come early. A gentle, low cost escape rather than a truly wild one.

04
Alfaz del Pi

Playa del Albir

A long white pebble beach between Benidorm and Altea with clear water and a calmer, more genteel mood than its neighbours. It is rarely crowded the way the sandy resorts are, and the lighthouse walk at one end leads to quiet coves and viewpoints. Easy parking and good facilities make it the most relaxed of the accessible choices.

05
Guardamar

Playa de Guardamar

A long open beach backed by pine and dune forest where the sheer scale means you can always walk to space, even in high summer. The far ends, away from the access points, stay quiet and shaded for nothing, which makes it the best value choice when you want room and natural shade rather than a small dramatic cove.

The honest read

The honest read on seclusion

Be honest with yourself about August, because the coves cannot be. The most beautiful spots on this coast, Cala Granadella and Cala del Moraig, are famous, small and reached by tight roads with tiny car parks, so in peak summer they fill within an hour of opening and the only people who find peace are the ones who arrived at dawn. If you want true quiet in July and August, the free move is to be there very early or to choose a long beach where space is a given.

Trade convenience for quiet, and know what you are trading. The wildest coves have limited facilities, little shade and a walk or steps down, so bring water, a parasol and sturdy shoes, and do not expect a beach bar at your towel. The long southern beach at Guardamar gives you natural pine shade and room for nothing, which is the better value escape, while the genteel pebble beach at Albir offers calm without the scramble. Match the effort you want to make to the peace you expect to get.

Conditions are typical rather than guaranteed, and the quietest coves are also the least supervised, so swim with care and follow any flags. The smart cheap plan is the same one the locals use. Go in the shoulder months when even the famous coves are calm, or arrive at first light in summer, bring your own shade and water, and you will find genuine peace on the Costa Blanca without paying a premium for it.

Browse Costa Blanca beach clubs

The most secluded coves here have little more than a simple seasonal kiosk, if that, which is part of their appeal but means you should arrive self sufficient with water and shade. For a longer lunch or a serviced base you will do better at the nearby town beaches and their restaurants, a short drive from the quiet coves. We never invent a venue, a minimum spend or an opening status, so anything we cannot confirm is marked to be confirmed. Browse the directory and send one enquiry to check your date.

Good questions

Before you go

Which Costa Blanca beach is the most secluded?

Cala del Moraig at Benitatxell gives the strongest sense of wildness, a cliff backed pebble cove with clear deep water and few services, and it feels genuinely quiet early in the day. Cala Granadella is just as beautiful but more famous. Neither is remote in August, when both fill within an hour, so timing matters more than anything.

Are there any free secluded beaches on the Costa Blanca?

Yes. All the coves and beaches here are free to enter, so seclusion costs you nothing but an early start or a shoulder season visit. The long beach at Guardamar gives natural pine shade and room to spread out for free, and the small northern coves are peaceful at dawn before the tight car parks fill.

When is the best time to find a quiet beach here?

Out of season, or very early in the morning in summer. The famous coves at Granadella and Moraig are calm and near empty in the shoulder months and at first light, then fill fast. May, June, September and October give warm water with far fewer people and easy free parking, which is the cheapest route to peace.

Do the secluded coves have facilities?

Often very little. The wild coves have limited services, little shade and sometimes a walk or steps down, so bring water, a parasol and sturdy shoes and do not rely on a beach bar. The town beaches a short drive away have full facilities when you want them, and the long beach at Guardamar has natural shade from its pine forest.

Is it easy to park at the secluded beaches?

No, parking is the main catch. The small coves at Granadella, Moraig and Portet have tiny car parks that fill very early in summer. Arrive at or before dawn, walk in where you can, or choose a long beach like Guardamar where parking and space are far easier. Out of season it is rarely a problem.
