The Costa Blanca has a party reputation, and it pays to know that almost all of it belongs to one town. Benidorm is the nightlife engine of this coast, a wall of high rises behind a long beach with the densest run of bars, clubs and late shows in this part of Spain, while the rest of the shore is a string of quiet coves where the loudest thing is the cicadas. Understand that split before you book and you can have the cheap, loud night and the calm morning, simply by choosing where to sleep.
What makes Benidorm such good value is that the night costs so little to join. Drinks are cheap, plenty of venues charge no entry, and the all in resort deals make a long weekend genuinely affordable in a way the smarter resorts up the coast never match. That is the honest appeal, and it is why the town has filled every summer for decades. If you want the scene without the markup, this is the place, and you do not need to book a thing to find it.
We have ranked the beaches below for where the energy actually is, the bars and the late kitchens first, then the calmer alternatives and where to retreat when you have had enough. We are honest about how quickly the noise fades once you leave Benidorm, and we point you plainly to both versions of this coast. If you want the party, we send you to it, and if you want the still cove and the clear water, we send you the other way, a short drive apart.
The party scene of the Costa Blanca
Cheap and loud first, then where to retreat for calm.
Playa de Levante
The undisputed nightlife capital of the coast, a long town beach backed by the densest grid of bars, clubs and late entertainment in the region, and the best value party in Spain for sheer cost per night. The sand is broad and ordinary and the draw is the town behind it, so come for the scene, the cheap drinks and the late kitchens. Book nothing and simply arrive, the night runs on its own.
Playa de San Juan
Alicante's long city beach, with a smarter, more grown up evening of beach bars, terraces and summer chiringuitos rather than a hard club scene. It suits travellers who want a lively drink by the water and a good dinner over a sweaty dancefloor, and the tram link into the city keeps costs down. The classier night on the coast, and easy on the wallet if you stick to the beach bars.
Playa del Arenal
Javea's sandy beach with a lively seafront strip of bars and restaurants that buzzes through summer evenings, busier and louder than the calas nearby but a long way short of Benidorm. It is the sweet spot for travellers who want a relaxed night out without the high rise crowds, with prices that sit above Benidorm but below the chic end of the coast. A friendly, moderate night by the sand.
Playa de Poniente
Benidorm's quieter, longer beach on the other side of the old town, calmer and more local by day yet still a short walk from the full nightlife by night. It is the smart base for travellers who want the party within reach but a gentler stretch of sand and cheaper, less frantic mornings. The value move in Benidorm, the scene close and the daytime calm.
Cala Granadella
Not a party beach at all, and that is exactly why we send the morning after crowd here, a pine framed pebble cove with some of the clearest water on the coast. It is free to enter, a short drive from Javea, and the antidote to a Benidorm night, though it fills early in summer so arrive before the car park does. Honest counsel, this is where the Costa Blanca restores you for nothing.
The honest read on the Costa Blanca party scene
The honest truth is that the Costa Blanca party is Benidorm and very little else. The bars, the clubs and the late shows are genuine and they are cheap, which is the real reason the town has filled every summer for so long. This is a town bar scene beside a beach rather than a glamorous sand side club scene, so arrive expecting cheerful, crowded, affordable nights rather than a polished day club, and Benidorm delivers exactly what it promises without asking you to book ahead or spend big.
The place most often misjudged is the rest of the coast. Travellers sometimes pick a quiet cove like Granadella or Moraig expecting a little nightlife to spill over, and find a single chiringuito and an early silence, which is wonderful if you wanted calm and disappointing if you wanted a scene. The two do not mix. If you want the night, sleep in Benidorm, and if you want the clear water and the still morning, sleep near Javea or Moraira and drive over for one big night if the mood takes you.
Season is the last honest note, and Benidorm is the exception that proves the rule. July and August are the loud, expensive peak across the coast, June and September are the value sweet spot with the energy intact, and most of the shore winds down out of season. Benidorm, unusually, keeps a real winter scene, so a cheap off season break here still finds an open bar. The Mediterranean is typically calm and warm in summer, but conditions are typical and never guaranteed, so watch the flags before you swim.
Booking a beach club day
The Costa Blanca nightlife runs mostly on town bars rather than sand side day clubs, but the coast does have beach bars, chiringuitos and lounge spots where you can settle for a long lunch or a sunset drink without the high rise crush. We never invent a venue's minimum spend or amenities, so where something is unconfirmed we say so, and a named club's terms are always its own to set. Use our directory to see who is open along the coast, then send one enquiry and let them come back to you.

Before you go
Where are the party beaches on the Costa Blanca?
The nightlife of the Costa Blanca is concentrated in Benidorm, where Playa de Levante is backed by the densest grid of bars and clubs on the coast and runs latest of anywhere. Alicante adds a more grown up city beach scene at Playa de San Juan, and Javea has a livelier bar strip at the Arenal. Beyond those the coast is mostly quiet coves with little nightlife.
Is Benidorm the best place for nightlife on the Costa Blanca?
Yes, and it is also the best value. Benidorm has the largest concentration of bars, clubs and late entertainment on the coast, with cheap drinks, free entry venues and a season that runs almost year round. Playa de San Juan in Alicante is the smarter choice if you want a more refined evening, but for sheer scale and low cost Benidorm stands alone.
Are there beach clubs on the sand in Costa Blanca?
The Costa Blanca party is mostly a town bar and club scene rather than a sand side day club one, so the dancing happens behind the beach rather than on it. There are beach bars, chiringuitos and lounge spots along Levante, San Juan and the Arenal for a drink by the water. We never invent venue details, so anything we cannot confirm is marked to be confirmed.
Where do you go on the Costa Blanca for calm after a night out?
The protected coves near Javea and Benitatxell, including Cala Granadella and Cala del Moraig, are the classic recovery, with clear water, pine cover and no nightlife by design. Cala del Portet near Moraira is just as quiet. These calas are free to enter and a short drive from the party, which makes them the cheap, restful counterpoint to a Benidorm night.
When is the Costa Blanca party season at its peak?
July and August are the peak, when Benidorm runs at full tilt and prices and crowds are highest. June and September keep most of the energy with thinner crowds and softer rates, which is the best value window. Benidorm is unusual in keeping a real winter scene too, so the party here is less strictly seasonal than most of the coast.
