Cupabia Beach
Best for. Travellers who want room to breathe and do not mind a rough final track and an exposed bay.
Best spot. The northern corner under the headland, which gives a little shelter when the wind turns.
Know this. Cupabia is open to the swell, so it can be flat and dreamy one day and lively with surf the next.
Cupabia is the bay you reach when you turn off from Serra di Ferro and keep going past the point where most cars stop. The last stretch is a rough track that rattles a low vehicle, and that small barrier is exactly why the beach stays wild. At the bottom there is a wide, pale strand backed by green hills and very little else, which is rare on a coast where the best sand often comes with a car park and a kiosk.
The trade for that space is exposure. Cupabia opens to the sea rather than tucking behind a headland, so it reads the weather honestly. On a settled morning the water is clear and gentle and you could swim for hours. When the libeccio wind builds from the southwest, the same bay turns into a playground of small waves that windsurfers and kitesurfers quietly love and that flat water swimmers find less appealing.
Go to Cupabia for the sense of openness, not for services. There is space to walk, room to find your own patch of sand well away from anyone else, and a big sky that makes the whole bay feel larger than its size. If you need shade, loungers and a long lunch menu, the developed beaches around Propriano will suit you better.
Clubs on this beach
There is no beach club at Cupabia in the polished sense, and the bay would not be the same if there were. A seasonal beach restaurant works near the sand for lunch and drinks, but its name, opening dates and prices change year to year and should be confirmed before you rely on it.

Gulf of Valinco, Corsica
Cupabia sits on the northern side of the Gulf of Valinco, reached through Serra di Ferro and then along a small road that becomes a rough track for the final approach. From Propriano it is a short drive plus the track, and from Ajaccio it is roughly an hour by way of the Coti Chiavari road.
A car is the only practical way in, and the track rewards patience and a little ground clearance. Once parked you are a short walk from the sand, with nothing between you and the water but open bay.

Common questions about Cupabia
Is Cupabia Beach hard to reach?
The final stretch is a rough, dusty track that is uncomfortable in a low car. It is manageable with care and far easier with a vehicle that has decent ground clearance, and the quiet bay at the end is the reward.
Is Cupabia good for swimming?
On a calm day it is excellent, with clear and gentle water. When the southwest wind blows the bay becomes choppy with surf, which suits windsurfers more than swimmers, so check conditions first.
Are there beach clubs or sunbeds at Cupabia?
No. Cupabia is a wild beach with at most a seasonal restaurant near the sand. For organised clubs and daybed service you would look at the Corsica beach clubs guide.
When should I visit Cupabia?
June and September give warm water and far fewer people than the nearby Valinco beaches. Aim for a settled, low wind day if calm swimming matters to you.
Is there shade at Cupabia?
Very little. The strand is open with only patchy natural cover, so bring an umbrella or plan your visit around the cooler ends of the day.
