The verdict

  • Who it is for. Travellers who want a polished day of daybeds, infinity pools and Gulf views, and need to know which Dubai club suits a party, a refined lunch or a family before paying a minimum spend.
  • The pick. Nammos for the Mediterranean glamour, WHITE Beach for the sunset rooftop scene and DRIFT for a calm, refined day, with Nikki Beach still the name for a party.
  • The one thing to know. These are pay to enter venues with minimum spends rather than public beaches, the figures vary by day and season and are confirmed when you book, so treat any price as to be confirmed.
The brief

Why these made the list

Dubai does the beach club as engineered glamour, and it does it better than almost anywhere. The scene strings along the Gulf from JBR and the Palm to the Jumeirah coast, a run of infinity pools, imported sand and design hotels with the skyline or the Burj Al Arab as a backdrop. We have judged each club on the setting and the view, the pool and the sea, the food and the service, and the honest character of the day, from sunrise calm to sunset party. Our full Dubai beach clubs directory carries the booking detail.

Two things shape the ranking. First, the mood divides sharply, from party forward rooms like Nikki Beach and COVEBEACH to refined, grown up days at DRIFT and Summersalt, and matching the club to the day you want matters more than the headline name. Second, this is a paid scene built on minimum spends and day passes rather than free sand, so the value question is real. Where a famous club coasts on its name we say so, and where a quieter one delivers more for the money we point you to it. For the wider coast see the Dubai beaches and the neighbouring Abu Dhabi beach clubs.

The setting at the Four Seasons is polished and the sea genuinely clear. It takes the top spot for delivering a complete day, glamorous, well run and beautiful, though it is among the priciest in the city and a minimum spend applies.

Jetty Lounge

Less a full beach club than the city's finest beachfront sunset lounge, Jetty Lounge spreads low sofas along the sand at the One and Only Royal Mirage for a sundowner with the Palm on the horizon. It is about the evening rather than a day of pools. It ranks here as the place to close a Dubai beach day, relaxed, elegant and all about the light.

Azure Beach

Honest notes

How I ranked them, and how to spend the day

The first thing to settle is the mood. Dubai's clubs split cleanly into party forward rooms, where the music builds and the day becomes a scene, and refined, calm venues built around quiet, service and a good lunch. Nikki Beach, COVEBEACH and WHITE lean to the former, DRIFT, Summersalt and Twiggy to the latter, with several sitting comfortably in between. Picking the right end of that spectrum for the day you actually want is the single best decision you can make, and it matters more than the fame of the name on the door.

The second is money. These are paid venues, almost all run on a minimum spend or a day pass rather than a simple sunbed fee, and the figures move with the day of the week and the season. We have not quoted prices because they change often and are set by each venue, so treat any number you see as to be confirmed when you book, and ask what the minimum spend buys before you commit. As a rule the Palm and Jumeirah flagships sit at the top end, while JBR and the more relaxed clubs offer better value.

Finally, time it right. The Dubai beach club season runs best from about October to April, when the days are warm and sunny rather than fiercely hot, and that is also when the venues are busiest and dearest, so book ahead. High summer is very hot and humid, which pushes the crowds to the pools and indoors at midday but brings the lowest rates. During Ramadan some venues adjust their hours and music, so check before you plan. Conditions and any minimum spend are typical and never guaranteed.

Questions, answered

Common questions

What is the best beach club in Dubai?

For all round glamour and a complete day the best beach club in Dubai is Nammos at the Four Seasons, with WHITE Beach at Atlantis the pick for sunset views and DRIFT for a calm, refined day. For a party, Nikki Beach still leads. The right answer depends on whether you want glamour, a sunset scene, a quiet day or a celebration.

How much does a Dubai beach club cost?

Most Dubai beach clubs charge a minimum spend or a day pass rather than a simple sunbed fee, and the amount varies by club, by day of the week and by season. The Palm and Jumeirah flagships sit at the top end, while JBR and the more relaxed clubs cost less. Prices change often, so treat any figure as to be confirmed when you book.

Which Dubai beach clubs are best for families?

Summersalt at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Azure Beach at JBR and Twiggy on the calm Creek lagoon are the most family friendly, with relaxed pools, gentle water and an easygoing feel rather than a party. Many party focused clubs are adults oriented or have age limits, so check each venue's policy before you book, as it can change.

Which Dubai beach clubs are best for a party?

Nikki Beach at Pearl Jumeira, COVEBEACH at JBR and WHITE Beach at Atlantis are the liveliest, with music, pool scenes and a day that builds toward the evening. They are about energy and the crowd rather than quiet swimming. Days and brunches are the big sessions, so book ahead and expect a minimum spend.

When is the best time for Dubai beach clubs?

The best season runs from about October to April, when the days are warm and sunny rather than fiercely hot, which is also the busiest and priciest time, so book ahead. High summer from May to September is very hot and humid, pushing crowds to the pools and indoors at midday but bringing the lowest rates.

Do Dubai beach clubs serve alcohol?

Most beach clubs attached to licensed hotels and resorts in Dubai serve alcohol, which covers the majority on this list. Availability and rules can change and a few independent venues differ, so confirm with the club when you book. During Ramadan service and timings may be adjusted, so check ahead.
