The honest read

Palm West Beach is the polished promenade that runs along the western trunk of the Palm Jumeirah, a stretch of around one and a half kilometres lined with restaurants, bars and beach clubs. It is the opposite of a wild public beach. This is a curated strip where the sand is groomed, the venues face the water, and a day here usually starts with a reservation rather than a towel. If you came to Dubai for the stylish beach club version of a seaside day, this is where it happens.

The roll call of venues is the real draw. Koko Bay brought a relaxed Bali influence when it opened, San Beach and the other clubs along the promenade run daybeds and pools by the water, and restaurants such as Jones the Grocer and a string of others handle the long lunches in between. You can stroll the promenade freely and pick your spot, but the actual beachfront daybeds belong to the clubs, so the experience is built around choosing a venue and settling in for the day.

The honest caveat is access. Because the clubs and restaurants line the shore, full use of the beach really means being a guest of one of them, and minimum spends apply at the busier venues. Walk up access to free open sand is limited here in a way it is not at JBR or Jumeirah Open Beach. That is the nature of the strip rather than a flaw, but it is worth knowing before you arrive expecting a free public beach.

Who it suits: couples and groups after a stylish, social, food led beach day with daybeds and sunset cocktails. Who should skip it: anyone wanting a free, quiet, unstructured swim, who will be happier on one of the open public beaches across the water. Book ahead for the popular venues, confirm any minimum spend when you reserve, and Palm West Beach delivers a genuinely polished day.

Getting there and essentials

Palm West Beach, Dubai

Palm West Beach runs along the western side of the Palm Jumeirah trunk, around fifteen minutes by car from Dubai Marina. Parking sits along the promenade and fills on cool weekends, so arrive early or use a taxi for a sunset booking.

The Palm Monorail serves the Palm, though most visitors reach the promenade by car or ride share. Because the daybed sand is tied to the venues, the smoothest plan is to book a club or restaurant in advance and arrive to your reservation.

Common questions

Palm West Beach FAQ

Is Palm West Beach free to access?

What beach clubs are on Palm West Beach?

Established names on the promenade include Koko Bay, San Beach and a string of restaurants and bars along the strip. Minimum spends vary by venue and season, so confirm them when you book.

Is Koko Bay on Palm West Beach?

Yes. Koko Bay is a beachfront restaurant and bar on Palm West Beach with a relaxed Bali influence, popular for sunset. As with other venues, confirm any minimum spend and hours when you reserve.

When is the best time to visit Palm West Beach?

The cooler months from October to April suit long lunches and daybed afternoons, and sunset is the signature hour on the Palm. The popular venues book up for that window, so reserve ahead.

Is there free parking at Palm West Beach?

There is parking along the promenade that fills on cool weekends and holidays. Arrive early or take a taxi for a sunset booking, and treat any specific parking detail as to be confirmed on the day.
