Nusa Dua Beach
Best for. Families and resort travellers who want calm, clean water, tidy white sand and five star comfort over local grit.
Best spot. The Mengiat Beach stretch for swimming and water sports, with the resort beachfronts kept to a high standard.
Know this. An offshore reef keeps the water calm, but Nusa Dua is a polished resort bubble rather than a local beach.
Nusa Dua is Bali's planned resort enclave, a gated stretch of the south coast given over to five star hotels, manicured gardens and a long ribbon of clean white sand. A reef sits offshore and holds back the swell, so the water is calm and shallow, and the beachfronts are raked, tidy and kept to a standard you rarely see elsewhere on the island. It runs in two linked stretches, Mengiat to the north and Geger to the south, with a paved promenade tying them together.
The honest read is that Nusa Dua trades local character for comfort and calm. There is little of the warung culture and rough edged charm of Canggu or Jimbaran here, and the enclave can feel sealed off from the real Bali beyond its gates. What you get in return is genuinely excellent: safe swimming, spotless sand, easy water sports and resorts that deliver on their promises. For a first trip, a family holiday or a stay where ease matters most, that trade is often worth making.
Taken on its own terms, Nusa Dua does its job very well. The calm lagoon is among the most child friendly water in south Bali, the promenade makes for a pleasant walk between hotels, and operators along the sand run jet skis, parasailing and other water sports. Non guests are free to use the public beach, so you do not need to stay here to enjoy it. Come for the calm and the comfort, and treat trips beyond the gates as the way to find the island's grittier soul.
Clubs on this beach
Nusa Dua is defined by five star resort beachfronts and their pools rather than standalone party clubs, with a couple of hotel beach clubs open to outside guests. Access, day passes and minimum spends are set by each resort and are to be confirmed.

A large, opulent resort on the southern Nusa Dua and Geger sand, known for its grand beachfront, pools and a well regarded beach club setting. Day passes, dining and minimum spends for outside guests are to be confirmed.
Promenade and water sports
A paved promenade links the resort frontages along the public sand, and water sports operators run jet skis, parasailing and banana boats from the beach. It keeps the enclave easy to walk and active for a family day, with no club booking required to use the sand.
South coast enclave, Bali
Nusa Dua sits on the south coast at the base of the Bukit peninsula, roughly fifteen to twenty five minutes from Ngurah Rai International Airport, making it one of the closest resort areas to arrivals. The gated enclave is reached through staffed entrances, with parking at the beach access points and hotels.
Taxis and ride hailing apps reach the enclave easily, and many guests rely on hotel transport or the internal shuttle between resorts and the Bali Collection shops. For trips out to Jimbaran, Uluwatu or the airport, a car or a prearranged driver is the simplest way to go.

Common questions about Nusa Dua Beach
Is Nusa Dua Beach good for swimming?
Yes. An offshore reef holds back the swell, leaving calm, shallow water that is among the most child friendly in south Bali. Swimming is easiest around higher tide, as the reef flats are exposed in places at low water. It is a clean, safe beach for a family swim.
Can non guests use Nusa Dua Beach?
Yes. The sand and the promenade are public and open to everyone, so you do not need to be staying at one of the resorts to walk, sit or swim. The resorts maintain their own frontages, but the beach itself is free to use.
Is Nusa Dua good for families?
Very much so. The calm reef sheltered water, the clean raked sand, the easy water sports and the comfort of the resorts all suit families well. It is one of the most convenient and child friendly beach areas in Bali, close to the airport and kept to a high standard.
What is the difference between Nusa Dua and Geger Beach?
They are two linked stretches of the same coast. Nusa Dua, with Mengiat Beach, is the busier resort frontage to the north, while Geger to the south is quieter, with a temple on the headland. Both share the calm, reef sheltered water of the enclave.
Is there much to do in Nusa Dua besides the beach?
Yes. Beyond swimming and water sports there is the beachfront promenade, the Bali Collection shopping and dining complex, and easy trips out to Jimbaran for seafood or Uluwatu for the cliffs. The enclave is polished, so many travellers pair it with day trips for local character.
