Casa Playa opened in the summer of 2010 at the southern extremity of Banana Bay, below the Vassilikos peninsula, and it has spent sixteen seasons turning the wilder end of the island’s longest beach into its most organised corner. The formula reads simply on paper, a few dozen umbrellas, a line of wooden cabanas, a bar and restaurant behind them, but the execution is what built the name: waiter service to the bed, an online engine that actually holds your reservation, outdoor showers and changing rooms, and a separate VIP restaurant for the long lunches and the wedding trade.
The sand it works is Blue Flag certified and golden, with the bay’s watersports operators running from the same stretch. The organised end of a long wild bay
What Casa Playa sells is position and reliability. The far end placement means your bed faces the open Ionian with the whole sweep of the bay to one side, and the operation behind it has been refined over sixteen years rather than reinvented every lease. The kitchen is the quiet strength: fresh fish, grilled meats and salads built on local ingredients, served either at the bar restaurant or brought down the sand to your umbrella, with the VIP restaurant handling occasions that deserve a tablecloth. The wedding trade the club has grown says something about how the place photographs at golden hour.
The money conversation is where opinions split, and both sides are right. The booking platforms that listed it a decade ago praised its very good prices, and the back rows still bear that out; recent visitors, meanwhile, call 50 EUR for the first line steep for Zakynthos, and they are not wrong either.
