Dahariz is the beach Salalah actually uses. It is a broad, pale sweep of sand along the city shore, backed by a run of cafes and restaurants rather than resorts, and on a warm dry season evening it fills with families, walkers and the smell of grilled fish. It is not a wild, empty cove and it does not pretend to be. What it offers is an easy, sociable stretch of coast where you can swim in calm water, walk for as long as you like and end the day with a meal a few steps from the sand.
I read every beach as a surfer, and Dahariz has two completely different faces depending on the season. From about November to April the Arabian Sea here is gentle and the swimming is easy, which is the beach most visitors picture. Then the Khareef monsoon arrives around late June and everything changes. The same coast that was flat turns into a heaving grey sea with real surf and strong currents, the hills behind go green, and regional visitors pour in to see it. It is a spectacular thing to watch, but the sea in that season is for looking, not for swimming.
So the honest plan depends entirely on when you come. In the dry months, treat Dahariz as an easy daily beach: an early walk on empty sand, a swim while the sea is calm, and an evening among the cafes when the heat drops. During the Khareef, come for the drama of the surf and the green landscape, keep to the sand, and obey any warning flags without arguing with the water. Either way, this is a genuine local beach, and that is exactly its appeal.
Along the shore
Dahariz is a local public beach rather than a club scene, so the layer here is cafes and restaurants near the sand, open parking and room to spread out. Hours and prices are set by each venue and best confirmed on the day.

The strip of cafes and restaurants set back from the sand is where Dahariz comes alive in the evening, handy for grilled fish, a coffee or a cold drink between swims. It is casual and local rather than a daybed club. Opening hours and menus are to be confirmed.
Open beach and parking
The beach itself is the main event, with open parking and a wide stretch of sand to claim for the day at no charge. Bring your own shade and water, since natural cover is limited. This is a bring your own setup rather than a serviced beach.

Dhofar coast, southern Oman
Dahariz sits on the Salalah shore in Dhofar, southern Oman, an easy drive from the city center and roughly 20 to 30 minutes from Salalah Airport depending on traffic. Most visitors arrive by car or taxi, and parking near the beach is straightforward outside the busiest Khareef weekends.
Bring water, sun cover and cash for the cafes, since the beach itself is open and unserviced. The sun is strong in the dry season, so shade is worth carrying, while the Khareef brings mist, drizzle and cooler air along with the rough sea. Aim for early morning or the evening to dodge the midday heat.
