Rams, or Al Rams, is the wild and quiet north of Ras Al Khaimah, and the antidote to the resort sand down the coast. One of the oldest coastal settlements in the emirate, this old fishing town sits beneath the soaring Jebel Jais mountains and the Bronze Age Dhayah Fort, with palm groves, natural sand bars and a peaceful corniche walk along the shore. For couples who want nature and seclusion over a scene, it is the most romantic kind of beach there is, the kind where you may have the sand to yourself.
The setting is its whole appeal. The water is calm and shallow, the shore is undeveloped, and the backdrop of mountains and a hilltop fort gives a sunset here a drama that the flat resort coast cannot match. Dhayah Fort, the last remaining hill fort in the country, stands guard above the palm groves and rewards a short climb with a wide view over the sea and the date plantations. This is slow travel, a place to wander, watch the fishing boats and let an afternoon drift.
The honest read is that Rams is for travellers who want wild quiet and are happy to do without comfort. There is little on the sand itself, no club, no loungers and no lifeguard, so you bring your own water, shade and everything you need, and you swim with care. Treat it as a barefoot escape rather than a facilities beach, come in the cool months and stay for the sunset, and you will find the most secluded and atmospheric shore in Ras Al Khaimah.

Rams lies in the north of Ras Al Khaimah, a short drive beyond the city toward the mountains and Dhayah Fort, roughly an hour and a quarter from Dubai. The town has a corniche and simple parking, and you reach the open shore on foot from the road along the seafront.
Come in the cooler months from November to April and aim for the late afternoon for the best light and a quiet sunset. Bring water, shade and food, wear sturdy shoes if you plan to climb to Dhayah Fort, and treat this as a wild outing rather than a serviced beach day.

For quiet and nature, very much so. Rams is a wild, undeveloped northern shore with palm groves, sand bars and the dramatic backdrop of the mountains and Dhayah Fort, and you may have the sand almost to yourself. It is the most secluded and atmospheric beach in Ras Al Khaimah, ideal for couples who want a barefoot escape over a resort scene.
Very few. This is a free, open local shore with no beach club, loungers or lifeguard, and only the small town of Al Rams and its corniche nearby for simple needs. Bring your own water, shade and food, swim with care, and treat it as a wild outing rather than a serviced beach day.
The headline is Dhayah Fort, the last remaining hill fort in the country, set above the palm groves and worth a short climb for the view. The old fishing town of Al Rams, its corniche walk and the foothills of the Jebel Jais mountains are all close by, which makes Rams a lovely stop on a slow drive through the north.
The water is calm and shallow on most days, which is gentle for a wade or a quiet swim, but there is no lifeguard on this open shore, so swim with care and watch children closely. Conditions are always typical rather than guaranteed, so use common sense and do not swim out far on a quiet, unmanaged beach.
Rams is in the north of Ras Al Khaimah, roughly an hour and a quarter by car from Dubai, a little beyond the city toward the mountains and Dhayah Fort. A hire car is the easiest way, as it lets you combine the beach with the fort and a drive through the date palm country around Al Rams.
