Al Marjan Island is the polished heart of the Ras Al Khaimah coast. A man made archipelago of four coral shaped islands reaching about four and a half kilometres into the Gulf, it carries more than seven kilometres of soft white sand and a row of resorts behind it. For a couple who want the easy, comfortable version of a beach day, with a cabana, a pool and a long sunset, this is the most romantic stretch in the emirate, and it sits barely an hour from Dubai.
The setting is built for relaxation rather than wildness. The water is shallow, sheltered and calm, the sand is groomed each morning, and the resorts line the shore with daybeds, restaurants and water sports. The island is also the emirate's headline project, with the Wynn Al Marjan Island resort, the first integrated resort in the United Arab Emirates, due to open in 2027 and already reshaping the skyline. For now the mood is quiet luxury rather than a party scene.
The honest read is that the magic is real but it is largely behind the resorts, so go knowing the access. There is little open public sand here, and the simplest way onto the best beaches is a beach club or pool day pass, which buys you a lounger, shade and the use of the pools. If you want a free swim with the same warm water, Flamingo Beach down the coast is the value answer, and Al Marjan is the day you choose when the point is to be looked after.
Al Marjan is a row of resort beaches, so the clubs are how you get onto the best sand. For the full list, see our Ras Al Khaimah beach clubs directory.
A breezy Mediterranean restaurant and beach club at the Movenpick Resort Al Marjan Island, with a pool and beach day pass, sea views and handpicked wines. An easy, stylish choice for a long island lunch.
A family friendly resort beach and pool with a day pass that includes a food and drink credit. A practical, good value way onto the island sand for a full relaxed day.
Al Marjan Island lies on the central Ras Al Khaimah coast, reached by a causeway and roughly an hour by car from Dubai and the airport. Each resort has its own parking and beach access, and a beach club or pool day pass is the simplest way on if you are not staying the night.
Aim for the cooler months from November to April and the sunset hour for the loveliest light, bring sun protection and water, and book a daybed ahead for weekends and holidays when the island is busiest. A weekday visit is calmer and usually better value.

Mostly not. The beaches sit in front of resorts, so the easiest way onto the best sand is a beach club or pool day pass, which buys a lounger, shade and the use of the pools. The exact figures change with the season and the venue and are to be confirmed. For a free swim nearby, Flamingo Beach is the honest value alternative.
It is the most polished and romantic beach in Ras Al Khaimah. The calm water, the groomed sand and the long sunsets over the Gulf suit couples beautifully, especially with a cabana and a pool to retreat to. Come for the cooler months and the sunset hour, and choose a western facing resort beach for the best evening light.
Wynn Al Marjan Island is a large integrated resort due to open in 2027, set to be the first of its kind in the United Arab Emirates, with hotel rooms, restaurants, pools and a private beach. It is already reshaping the island skyline. Until it opens, the existing resorts and beach clubs are how you enjoy the sand.
Al Marjan Island is roughly an hour by car from Dubai and the airport, reached by a causeway on the central Ras Al Khaimah coast. A taxi or a hire car is the easiest way, and each resort has its own parking and beach access. That short drive from the city is a big part of the island's appeal.
The cool months from November to April are the season, with warm sun, swimmable sea and beautiful soft evenings. Aim for the sunset hour for the best light, and treat the fierce summer heat from June to September as a time for a shaded cabana, a pool and an early or late visit rather than a long lie on open sand.
