Oludeniz keeps a clear summer rhythm. The beach season runs from roughly May to October, the sea is warmest in late summer, and the crowds and prices peak hard in July and August before easing into a lovely, quieter September. The summers are hot and dry, and outside the season the beach bars wind down while the sea turns too cool for a comfortable swim.

We have laid out the year month by month below, with a quick season grid and honest notes on the months that matter most. The headline is simple. June and September give you warm water, long days and far more space and value than the height of summer, with gentler heat too, which is why they are the months we point most people toward.

If you take one line from this page, take this. Aim for June or September for the best balance of warm sea, bearable heat, lighter crowds and fairer prices, accept July and August only if you want the warmest water and do not mind the heat, the cost and the crush, and remember the calmest swims on any day come in the morning before the afternoon wind builds on the open beach.

The notable months

When each month earns its place

May. The opening of the season and one of the loveliest months for a quiet, good value trip. The weather is warm and settled, the days are long and the hills are green and uncrowded, though the sea is only just warming and a swim still bites. For the paragliding, the views and the beaches near empty, May is a gem if you are relaxed about cooler water.

June. One of the two sweet spots of the year. The sea has warmed to a pleasant swimming temperature, the days are at their longest and the heat is hot but not yet fierce, while the crowds, though building, are nowhere near the August peak. Prices and pressure on the beaches are still reasonable, which makes June a superb all round time to come.

July. High summer, with hot, dry weather, warm sea and the busiest beaches of the year. This is when the afternoon wind is most noticeable on the open beach, so plan calm swims for the morning or head to the sheltered lagoon. Expect peak prices and heat, and book accommodation well ahead as the resort fills.

August. The hottest, busiest and priciest month, when the sea is at its warmest but the beaches are packed and rooms cost the most. The heat can be intense by day, so shade, water and an early start matter. It is a wonderful time to swim if you accept the crowds and the cost, but it is not the month for space, calm or value.

September. The other sweet spot and many travellers favourite month. The sea is still warm from a summer of heat, the crowds thin noticeably after the August peak and the heat softens to something very pleasant. Beach bars are still open through most of the month, making September the ideal blend of warm water, gentler weather, breathing room and better prices.

October. The season winds down, but early October can still surprise with warm enough water for a swim and mild, pleasant days. Crowds are light and prices fall, though rain becomes more likely as the month goes on. A fine choice for a quiet, good value trip that mixes a few beach days with walking and sightseeing, if you are relaxed about the odd wet spell.

Good questions

Before you go

What is the best time to visit Oludeniz?

June and September are the best months overall, pairing warm sea and long days with lighter crowds, gentler heat and better value than the July and August peak. The sea is warmest in August and September, but the beaches and prices are at their height then. May and October are quieter and pleasant, though the sea is cooler at each end of the season.

When is the sea warm enough for swimming in Oludeniz?

The sea is comfortably warm for swimming from about June to October, reaching its warmest in August and September, and the sheltered lagoon warms earlier and stays gentle. May can be swimmable for the hardy and early October still pleasant, but the water is cooler at the edges of the season and cold from late autumn to spring.

Which months are the most crowded and expensive in Oludeniz?

July and August are the busiest and priciest months, when European and Turkish holidays fill the resort and the popular beaches get very busy. If you can, travel in June or September for warm water with more space and fairer prices, or in May and October for quiet at the cost of a cooler sea.

Does the wind affect the beaches in Oludeniz?

Yes, a summer breeze often builds in the afternoon and can stir up the open beach at Belcekiz, even on a clear day. It rarely stops a swim, but it does mean the calmest water comes in the morning, and the sheltered Blue Lagoon stays gentle through the day when the open beach gets choppy.

Is it worth visiting Oludeniz outside summer?

For walking, paragliding and the scenery, the shoulder months of April, May and October are mild, green and far less crowded, and better value. For beach days and swimming, though, you really want June to September, when the sea is warm and the beach bars are open. Conditions are typical and never guaranteed.
