The Kapris family opened Santana on the shore of Agia Anna in 2009, rebuilt it top to bottom in 2015, and have spent 2026 rolling out what they call a new era, a reworked kitchen and an in house boutique selling island fashion. That history matters because it explains what Santana is: not a franchise dropped onto a Greek island, but a local operation that grew into the closest thing Naxos has to a genuine club scene, while the rest of the coast stayed a string of easy beach bars.

Our honest position, the same one we take on the Naxos club directory, is that this island is a beach bar island rather than a daybed empire, and Santana is the exception that proves it. If you only surrender to one lounger fee on Naxos, this is where it earns its keep.

Mornings are the secret. Before noon Santana is just a very comfortable front row on a beautiful beach, the water in front of Agia Anna is shallow and usually calm, and the coffee arrives at your lounger. The crowd builds through lunch, the volume follows it, and by late afternoon the DJ has turned the lounger rows into the preamble of a party. On the signature nights, the full moon parties above all, the club becomes the destination for the whole coast and the sand in front of it fills with people who never rented a bed at all.

The kitchen deserves its own paragraph, because it is the reason Santana holds guests who do not care about the music. The 2026 refit put the food at the centre, and the plates that keep coming up in recent visitor accounts are the sushi, grilled seabass, saffron risotto and prawn bao buns, alongside a long cocktail list. Service gets named in reviews, which on a Greek beach in August is its own recommendation.

Where it falls short is exactly where you would guess. This is the most expensive sand on Naxos, the front row in peak season carries a spend that would cover a whole day at the relaxed bars down the coast, and nobody who wants quiet after 3pm should be here. Naxos does calm brilliantly, a short walk south along Plaka, just not at Santana.

Agia Anna is the busier, more social end of the southwest coast, a continuation of Agios Prokopios where the sand narrows and the tavernas and bars press closer to the water. The swimming in front of the club is typically easy and shallow, the free public stretch runs right beside the paid rows, and the small fishing jetty at the north end still works for a living. From Naxos Town it is about ten minutes by road, and the local bus toward Agios Prokopios and Plaka drops you a short walk from the club, so a hire car is a convenience rather than a requirement. Booking works two ways. Restaurant tables go through the club’s own online reservation system or by phone, and the club advises reserving early for the best seating, advice worth taking between mid July and late August. Sunbeds are simpler, walk up and take what is free, except on peak weekends when the front rows are claimed before midday.
