The Crimson sits in the Seascapes Resort Town out on the Punta Engano tip, and the single detail that decides how you use it is the marina. Plenty of Mactan resorts run island hopping, but having the boats pulled up at the resort jetty changes the rhythm of a day, because you walk from breakfast to a tender without a transfer in between. That is the practical case for basing here. It is a polished, full service resort with a neat white sand front, lagoon pools to swim in and water out front that, like all of Mactan, sits on a calm reef shelf rather than dropping into deep open sea.
Be clear about the beach itself. The sand is groomed and imported, the front is managed for the resort, and the shelf means a swim off the sand is a high tide affair over a shallow flat. Crimson does not pretend otherwise, which is why so much of its design points at the lagoon pools and the marina rather than the open water. The corner is also a touch further from the airport than the Maribago strip, so allow twenty to thirty minutes for the run out and a slow exit at peak times. None of that is a mark against the place, it is simply how a Mactan resort beach works at its best.
So my honest read is that Crimson is a comfortable base for people who value the marina and the polish, and who are content to swim in pools and reach the clear water by boat. If you want a wide natural beach and deep water from the sand, Mactan cannot give it and you should look to Boracay or Palawan. If you want an easy, well run resort day with island hopping that starts at the jetty, the Crimson rewards the slightly longer drive, and the move is a morning on the sand or by the pool, then straight out on the boat.
The Crimson front is a single resort beach with more resorts and marinas along the Seascapes tip. We describe the setting factually and route enquiries through our directory, and we never invent venues, day pass rates or amenities.
The resort behind the beach in Seascapes, with a white sand front, lagoon pools, several restaurants, a spa and its own marina for island hopping on the Punta Engano tip. Day access, packages and rates are set by the resort and to be confirmed.
The wider Seascapes town and the Punta Engano tip hold other resort beaches and marinas offering loungers, dining and island hopping trips on the channel. Their names, day passes and any minimum spend are set by each property and to be confirmed.
Crimson sits in the Seascapes Resort Town on the Punta Engano tip at the north east of Mactan in Lapu Lapu, a little further out than the Maribago strip. From Mactan Cebu International Airport it is a twenty to thirty minute taxi or Grab ride depending on the traffic, and from Cebu City across the water you cross one of the three bridges, the Marcelo Fernan bridge, the older Mandaue bridge or the newer Cebu Cordova link expressway, then run out to the tip in around fifty minutes when the road is busy. There is no boat needed to reach the beach, only to reach the deep water and the reefs, and the marina makes that part as easy as it gets on the island.
Plan the day around the tide and the boat. A high tide turns the reef shelf into a swimming shallows, while a low tide is the time to be out on an island hopping trip or in the lagoon pools instead. Boats leave from the resort marina in the morning for the calmest sea, so book the night before and aim to be on the water early. Carry reef shoes for the shelf, plenty of water, cash for the boat crew and the island fees, and reef safe sun cream, and treat the conditions as typical and never guaranteed, especially in the wetter months.

The beach is a managed white sand front on a reef shelf, so it is calm and best at high tide, and many guests swim in the lagoon pools instead. The resort also runs a marina, so the deep clear water is an easy boat ride out to the reefs rather than a swim off the sand.
The beach is private resort frontage, so access is usually through a room or a day pass with any minimum spend the resort sets. Day use availability and rates change and are to be confirmed directly with the property before you travel.
Yes, the resort has its own marina on the Punta Engano tip, which makes it one of the easier bases for island hopping and water sport, with boats out to the Hilutungan channel reefs and the sandbars. It suits couples and families who want a comfortable, well serviced beach base.
The dry season from roughly January to May gives the steadiest sea and the best island hopping weather, with March to May the hottest. The wetter, windier months from June to about November bring more changeable seas. Conditions are typical and never guaranteed.
