Antisamos Beach Bar
Last stop on the bay, first choice for lunch.
The verdict
- Book ifYou measure a Greek beach day in taverna terms, this is a family kitchen with waiter service to the beds, an umbrella set a July 2025 guest paid 15 to 20 EUR for, and no spend attached
- Skip ifUninvited wasps ruin a plate for you, guests across several summers describe swarms arriving with the food from late July, the one complaint this place cannot cook its way out of
- One thing to knowThe sign now reads Antisamos Taverna, same owners, same spot, and it is the third and last venue as you arrive, past the two bars everyone stops at first

Drive the switchback road from Sami and Antisamos meters out its venues one by one, and the trick locals pass on is to ignore the first two. Keep rolling to where the track runs out and you reach the operation this page covers, a beach bar and taverna that has quietly renamed itself Antisamos Taverna on its own listing while the whole island keeps calling it the Antisamos beach bar. Nikos, the owner guests mention by first name, runs it as the kind of place where the sunbed is a seat at his restaurant: order from the lounger or walk up to the terrace, either way the kitchen is the point.
In our Kefalonia club directory it earns its row by being the anti club: no minimum, no gate, free parking at the door and a June 2026 guest describing the whole operation as perfect from start to finish. On a bay that also hosts a cocktail program mid shore, this far corner is where you come to eat properly with your feet still salty.
The taverna at a glance
Sourced from the venue’s claimed listing and dated guest reports, with every unpublished number held to be confirmed.
| What | The detail |
|---|---|
| Umbrella sets | Reported July 2025 at 20 EUR for the grey sets and 15 EUR for the white, any row. A September guest found them free with a drink or food order late in the season. Current rates to be confirmed |
| Minimum spend | None. A July 2025 guest states plainly there is no obligation to order, which sets it apart on this bay |
| Entry | Free, Antisamos is a public beach and this is simply the last serviced section of it |
| Reservations | Walk in works, the venue publishes no booking line, so ahead of an August weekend our enquiry form below is the surest path, to be confirmed |
| Dress code | None whatsoever, wet swimwear at the terrace tables raises no eyebrows |
| Season and hours | 09:30 to 19:00 daily per the claimed listing. Season dates unpublished, to be confirmed |
| The beach | Antisamos, the emerald pebble bay 4 km over the hill from Sami, with the unserviced stretch starting right past the last umbrella |
| Facilities | Full bar, taverna kitchen, sunbed waiter service, free parking, showers and toilets, wheelchair access per its listing, towable rings on the water reported at 20 EUR a rider in 2023 |
A kitchen wearing a beach bar’s clothes
The menu is broader than the setting suggests and better than it needs to be. The Greek standards are all present, but the dishes guests actually write home about are the curveballs: a pizza a July 2024 family called great twice in one review, a truffle burger nobody expected at the end of a dirt road, a club sandwich and cheesecake pairing one couple rated among their better lunches on the island. Since around 2023 roving waiters have taken orders at the loungers, so the full carte arrives at your umbrella. Fair warning on the small print, extras are itemised with taverna thrift, bread, an olive oil dip and even ketchup sachets carry small charges that have annoyed more than one table.
The scene is the quiet end of the bay’s spectrum, deliberately. The soundtrack is soft, one 2025 visitor noted it approvingly, where this same spot leaned into house beats a few summers back, and the crowd is families and couples cycling between the water and the plates. By four the lunch rush has receded and the beds nearest the free stretch feel almost private. Nobody stays past seven because nothing here opens past seven: the taverna follows the sun, and the after dark energy on Antisamos belongs to the cocktail bar mid bay.
Two honest deductions. First, the wasps: from high summer they arrive with the food, guests describe bartenders mixing drinks inside little clouds of them, and if that image spoils your appetite this is not your lunch. Second, the showers have run dry on occasion while the toilets had water, which grates when you are rinsing salt off. Neither has dented the food scores, but you should walk in knowing both.
The far end of Antisamos
Photo: Roberto Giorgi via Google
Photo: Antreas Aleale via GoogleThis corner of the bay has the best swimming brief on the shore: shoals of fish work the clear shallows close enough to watch from your towel, one young reviewer counted staying nine to six without getting bored, and past the final umbrella the pebbles run on unserviced for anyone who wants Antisamos with nothing on it. Bring something for your feet, the stones are kinder to look at than to cross. Our full Antisamos beach guide covers the whole sweep, from parking strategy to how the bay trades against Myrtos on a windy day.
The practical part
From Sami the road climbs the headland and drops to the bay in about ten minutes, and ferry arrivals can be on a lounger within twenty. Follow the shoreline track all the way to its end, the venue’s own free parking makes the extra hundred metres the easiest decision of the day, and skipping the first two bars is the difference between a slot and a shrug in August.
There is no phone line or booking page to give you, which for a walk up taverna is honest rather than lazy. If your date is a peak Saturday or your party runs past six people, drop the details in the form below and our desk will raise it with the taverna, coming back with current umbrella rates and the day’s arrangements, free on our side.

Asked before the drive
How much are umbrellas at Antisamos Beach Bar?
A visitor writing in July 2025 reported grey umbrella sets at 20 EUR and white ones at 15 EUR, the same price whichever row you take, with no obligation to order from the bar. In September another guest found sets free as long as you bought a drink or some food. Neither figure is published by the venue, so treat both as reported and confirm on the day.
Is Antisamos Beach Bar the same place as Antisamos Taverna?
Yes. The venue’s claimed listing now carries the name Antisamos Taverna, and the two names refer to the same family run operation at the far end of the bay, a bar and kitchen with sunbed service. Locals and older guides still say Antisamos Beach Bar, so we keep both names on this page.
Do I have to order food to use the sunbeds?
No, and guests notice. A July 2025 review makes the point that there is no drinks obligation attached to the beds here, unlike elsewhere on the bay, and a 2023 regular praised the absence of minimums and parking fees. You pay for the umbrella set, the rest is up to you.
What is the food like at Antisamos Beach Bar?
A proper taverna kitchen rather than a snack hatch, described by the venue as traditional Greek cooking with an incredible view. Guests rate the surprises most, a genuinely good pizza and a truffle burger alongside the Greek standards, with orders delivered to your sunbed by roving waiters.
What are the opening hours at Antisamos Beach Bar?
The claimed listing shows 09:30 to 19:00 every day of the week. It is a daytime operation that closes when the beach empties, so plan for lunch, not for cocktails after dark. Season dates are not published and stay to be confirmed.
Where on Antisamos is the beach bar?
At the far end as you arrive from Sami, the last venue before the unserviced stretch of the bay. A visitor’s practical tip from July 2025: do not stop at the first two bars, keep going to the end, where this one has its own free parking.
