Kallithea Beach
Best for. Travellers who want a busy, well serviced beach with music, water sports and the biggest nightlife on the peninsula on the doorstep.
Best spot. A bed at an established beach bar such as Lotos for the comfortable daytime base, then the clubs by night.
Know this. Kallithea is for the scene, not for quiet. If you came to Halkidiki for stillness, take the Possidi cape and treat Kallithea as a night out.
Kallithea is the beach you choose when you want the day and the night to run together. It is the busiest and most sociable resort on the Kassandra peninsula, a long organised sand lined end to end with beach bars, the place that earned Halkidiki its nightlife reputation. The water is clean and shelves gently, the service is everywhere, and the energy is unmistakable, lounge music in the morning building to DJ sets as the afternoon wears on. For a certain kind of traveller this is exactly the holiday, and Kallithea delivers it with no apology.
If you want comfort and a scene, it is well set up. The beach mixes free sand with organised sections, and a number of the bars hand you a sunbed and umbrella for the price of a drink, which is a fair trade for a day. Lotos Beach Bar is one of the better known daytime spots for a clean, comfortable bed and an easy lunch. Water sports run through the summer, and when the sun drops the resort turns the volume up, with some of the largest clubs and music bars in the region, names like Pearl, Aqua and Ahoy, all within reach. The ruins of the ancient sanctuary of Ammon Zeus nearby give the daytime a little culture between swims.
The honest verdict is the one the quiet traveller needs to hear. Kallithea is loud, crowded in peak season, and built for the party rather than for privacy, and if you arrived in Halkidiki picturing stillness you will not find it here. There is nothing wrong with the beach, it does its job very well, but it is a scene with a markup on the calm rather than a refuge. The discerning move is to use Kallithea for what it is best at, a serviced day and a long night, and to keep the quiet for elsewhere. For real stillness, the wild cape at Possidi down the coast is the antidote, and for gentle family shallows Kalogria over on Sithonia is the easier choice.
Clubs on this beach
Kallithea is wall to wall beach bars rather than a single polished daybed club. Lotos is a reliable daytime base. We can arrange a bed or table at a club here through the directory. Operators and hours move with the season, so confirm before you set out.
Lotos Beach Bar
A well known beach bar on the Kallithea sand, with large comfortable sunbeds, a choice of sun or shade and an upper lounge with a view. A relaxed daytime base before the resort wakes up at night. Hours and prices to be confirmed.
East coast, Kassandra
Kallithea sits on the eastern side of the Kassandra peninsula, the first finger of Halkidiki, around a hundred kilometres from Thessaloniki and easily reached by car or the seasonal coaches that serve the resort. Parking is around the town, busy in peak season.
Come earlier in the day for the calmer water and the easier parking, settle in at a beach bar, and let the resort do the rest. By night the clubs are a short walk from the sand, so a base in Kallithea keeps everything close.

Common questions about Kallithea
Is Kallithea beach lively or quiet?
Lively. Kallithea is the nightlife hub of Kassandra and the busiest resort beach on the peninsula, lined with beach bars that run music through the day and a young, sociable crowd. It is excellent for energy and service and poor for solitude, so anyone after a quiet beach should look elsewhere, such as the Possidi cape further south.
Are there beach bars and sunbeds at Kallithea?
Yes, plenty. The beach is well organised, with a string of beach bars hiring sunbeds and umbrellas, cafes and tavernas close to the sand, and water sports in season. Lotos Beach Bar is one of the better known daytime spots for a comfortable bed. Many bars give free sunbeds with a drink, with operators and terms best confirmed for the season.
What is the nightlife like at Kallithea?
It is the centre of Halkidiki nightlife. The resort is home to some of the largest clubs and music bars on the peninsula, names like Pearl, Aqua and Ahoy, so the day on the sand can run straight into a long night out. That energy is the draw for some and the reason others choose a calmer base nearby.
Is Kallithea beach good for families?
It can work for families who like a busy, well serviced beach with everything on hand, and the organised bars make a day easy. The trade is the noise and the crowds in peak season, plus the nightlife close by. Families who want calm shallows and a quieter scene are usually happier at Kalogria or the gentle flats of Karydi.
