Southern Corsica hands a paillote to nearly every beach, yet hardly any of them decide what they want to look like as firmly as this one. Playa Baggia has worked the Tamaricciu end of Palombaggia bay since 2007, and the composition has settled into something a magazine stylist would recognise: weathered timber, soft textiles, a low terrace that lets the turquoise do the talking, and tables set close enough to the waterline that lunch effectively happens in the view rather than in front of it. The register matters because this stretch of sand carries the island’s most photographed water, and most of what surrounds it plays either rustic or polished. Playa Baggia holds the middle: warmer than a snack shack, looser than a linen tablecloth. Now the friction. Nothing here can be booked with a screen, and nothing has a printed price: the lounger rate, the spend expectation on a front mattress in August, even the exact opening week of the season all live at the end of a phone line. The two listings that track the place even disagree about April, one giving the first of the month and one the sixth. None of this appears to be strategy so much as an old fashioned paillote running on trust, but it means a peak season visit rewards the organised: ring days ahead, confirm the bed and the figure, and treat the Friday night concerts of July and August as dates to book around, not stumble into.

Tamaricciu is technically its own beach, the southern reach of the Palombaggia sweep, and connoisseurs of the bay tend to prefer it: the same pale sand and rounded red granite, the same umbrella pines, a touch fewer people than the central stretch. The water in front of the paillote shelves gently and stays swimmable for children in typical conditions, with supervision in season noted by independent listings.
