Kassiopi Beaches
Best for. Couples who want clear water in a string of small coves, a pretty harbour for dinner and a castle to climb at dusk, all without a party crowd.
Best spot. Walk the shaded path from the harbour to Bataria for the prettiest cove, then take dinner at a harbour taverna and the castle view as the light goes.
Know this. The coves are small white pebble bays that fill at midday in summer, so claim them early or late and bring water shoes for the entry.
Kassiopi is the kind of place that quietly makes the case for the northeast coast. It is an old harbour village wrapped around a working quay, with a Byzantine castle on the headland above and a ring of small white pebble coves hidden in the green just beyond the houses. The water in those coves is the clear turquoise that this corner of Corfu does so well, and the whole village runs at a gentler, more grown up pace than the big resorts. For a couple it gives you three good things at once, a clear cove to swim in by day, a pretty harbour to eat in by night, and a castle to climb for the view as the light goes.
The coves themselves reward a little walking. From the harbour a shaded coastal path leads in about ten minutes past the castle headland to Bataria, the prettiest of the bays, a small scoop of white pebble and very clear water, with Kanoni and Pipitos close by. Kalamionas, the village beach, sits just off the main road with the easiest access and the gentlest entry, which makes it the calm everyday choice. The honest note is that all these coves are small, so in the middle of a July or August day they fill, and the charm thins with the crowd.
So treat Kassiopi the way the village itself would. Take an early or late swim at Bataria when the cove is quiet and the water is at its clearest, bring water shoes for the pebble entry, and save the harbour for dinner when the boats settle and the tavernas come into their own. If you want a longer beach there is the clear pebble bay at Barbati a short drive south, and the green cliffs of Paleokastritsa across the island, but for a couple after coves, a good dinner and a sense of place, Kassiopi is one of the easiest yes answers on Corfu.
Clubs near these coves
Kassiopi runs on its harbour tavernas and seasonal sunbed concessions at the larger coves rather than a single polished club. Minimum spends and hours move with the season, so ask the venue when you enquire.
Kalamionas sunbed concession
Seasonal sunbeds and a taverna sit at Kalamionas, the easy village cove with a Blue Flag and a gentle entry, the comfortable base for a day by the water near the harbour. Operator and prices to be confirmed.
Harbour tavernas
The tavernas around the working harbour are the heart of an evening in Kassiopi, the place for fresh fish and a slow dinner once the coves empty and the boats settle. Relaxed and local rather than a club scene. Menus and prices to be confirmed.
Northeast coast, Corfu
Kassiopi sits at the northeast tip of Corfu, around forty minutes from Corfu Town by car on the coast road, with parking near the harbour. From the quay the coves are a short walk and the castle headland is signposted above the village.
A car gives you the freedom to reach the coves and the longer pebble bay at Barbati to the south on the same day. Buses serve this coast from Corfu Town in season for those who would rather not drive the winding road.

Common questions about Kassiopi
Is Kassiopi good for couples?
Yes, it is one of the loveliest couples bases on Corfu. The small white pebble coves and the clear turquoise water are pretty and calm, the harbour has good tavernas for dinner, and the castle above gives a fine evening view. It is relaxed and grown up rather than a party resort.
Which is the best beach at Kassiopi?
Bataria is the prettiest of the coves, with white pebbles and very clear water reached by a short shaded path from the harbour, though it is small. Kalamionas is the easiest to reach and the gentlest for a swim, with a Blue Flag. For a couple, the quiet hour at Bataria is the one to aim for.
Are the Kassiopi beaches sandy?
They are white pebble coves rather than sand, which is what keeps the water so clear and bright. Bring water shoes for a comfortable entry. The pebbles and the clean sea make these some of the best coves for snorkelling on this coast in calm conditions.
How do you reach the Kassiopi coves?
Most of the small coves, including Bataria, Kanoni and Pipitos, are reached on a pleasant shaded coastal footpath of around ten minutes from the harbour. Kalamionas sits just off the main road with the easiest access. The walk past the castle headland is part of the pleasure.
When is the best time to visit Kassiopi?
June and September for warm clear water and quieter coves. The small bays fill in the middle of a July or August day, so an early swim or a late afternoon visit, followed by dinner at the harbour, is the calm and romantic way to do it.
