Praia Azeda is the little cove that ends up on everyone's camera roll, and it deserves the attention. Set on the sheltered north side of the Buzios peninsula, just a short stairway around the headland from Praia dos Ossos, it is a small crescent of soft sand held between green rock, with water so calm and clear it looks almost still. To an eye that loves a tight, balanced composition it is close to perfect, a compact frame of gold, jungle green and pale blue with the town's boats swinging gently at anchor just offshore. This is Buzios at its most postcard, and it is an easy walk from the heart of it.
The pleasure here is the calm and the pairing. Azeda faces into the bay, so it holds some of the gentlest, clearest water in Buzios, ideal for a slow swim or simply standing waist deep watching the light move. Its charm is doubled by tiny Azedinha, the miniature cove right next door, reached by stepping across a low strip of rock, so you can drift between the two and sample both in a single lazy afternoon. Most people reach it by a short path and stairway from Ossos, a walk of only a few minutes, while others arrive by water taxi or boat straight onto the sand.
