Planning a Maldives beach trip that fits you

A resort buys you a private island, a flawless beach and a house reef to yourself, at a price. A local island stay costs a fraction of that and puts you in a real community with a designated bikini beach and easy excursions, in exchange for sharing the sand and respecting local customs. Mind the reef and the manners.
