Antalya has one of the longest and most dependable beach seasons in the Mediterranean, a warm, sunny coast where the swimming runs from late spring deep into autumn. The shape of the year is simple. High summer is hot, reliably dry and busy, the shoulder months on either side are warm and far more comfortable, and the sea lags the air so it holds its heat long after the peak heat has eased. That last point matters most for planning, because it means the gentle weeks of September and October still offer genuinely warm swimming with a fraction of the crowds.
Below we break the year down month by month for what actually shapes a beach day here, the air temperature, the sea temperature, the rainfall and the crowd level, with an honest verdict for each. We are clear about July and August, which deliver guaranteed sun and the warmest sea but also fierce daytime heat and the fullest resorts. We are just as clear about why May, June, September and October are the smart choices for most travellers, with warm water, kinder temperatures for sightseeing and the wilder shadeless beaches, and the easy value that comes with a quieter coast.

When each month earns its place
May. The season opens in earnest. The air is warm and pleasant rather than fierce, the sea has climbed to a swimmable temperature, and the resorts and beaches are still uncrowded. It is the ideal month for combining the beach with the ruins and the wilder shores, since you can walk Patara or Phaselis in comfort and still swim. A quiet, good value time with the heat yet to peak.
June. Early summer at its best. The sea is reliably warm, the sun is strong and dependable, and the daytime heat, while hot, has not reached the August extreme. Beaches are busy but not overwhelmed, and the long days make the most of both the city bays and a trip out west. For a classic Antalya beach holiday with warm water and a margin of comfort, June is hard to beat.
July and August. The peak in every sense. The sun is guaranteed and the sea is at its warmest, but daytime temperatures sit in the mid thirties and the humidity near the coast can be heavy, so this is heat to respect with shade, water and a break through the hottest hours. The resorts are at their fullest and prices at their highest. The swimming is superb, especially early and late in the day, and the shadeless wild beaches are best avoided at midday. Book stays well ahead.
September. For many the best month of all. The fierce edge comes off the heat, the sea is still summer warm from the long season, and the crowds thin noticeably once the school holidays end. Everything is still open and running, the light softens, and the wild beaches become comfortable again. If you can travel in September, you get close to peak warmth with far more room and gentler conditions.
October. The quiet reward. The sea holds its warmth into the mid twenties through much of the month, the air is comfortable for both swimming and sightseeing, and the coast is calm and good value. Rain becomes a little more likely toward the end, and some seasonal venues begin to wind down, but a warm sea and empty sand make early autumn one of the loveliest and best value times to visit Antalya.

Before you go
When is the best time to visit Antalya for the beach?
Late spring and early autumn are the sweet spots, roughly May and June and again September and October, with warm sea, strong sun and lighter crowds than the very hot July and August peak. The sea is warm enough to swim well into October, so the shoulder months give the best balance of heat, comfort and room. High summer is reliably sunny but fierce in temperature and busiest at the resorts.
How hot does Antalya get in summer?
Very hot. July and August routinely reach the mid thirties Celsius in the day and stay warm at night, with strong sun and high humidity near the coast. It is great beach weather if you respect the heat, but it asks for shade, water and a siesta through the hottest hours. Spring and autumn are far more comfortable for walking the ruins and the wilder beaches like Patara, where shade is scarce.
How warm is the sea in Antalya by month?
The Mediterranean at Antalya warms from around seventeen degrees in April to the low twenties by June, peaks near twenty eight or twenty nine in August, and holds in the mid twenties through September and October. That gives one of the longest comfortable swimming seasons in the region, roughly May into November in a warm year. Conditions are typical and never guaranteed.
Can you swim in Antalya in October?
Usually yes, and pleasantly so. The sea holds its summer warmth into October, often in the mid twenties, and the air cools to comfortable beach weather, so early autumn is a lovely time to swim with fewer people. Rain becomes a little more likely later in the month, but a warm sea and quieter sand make October one of the best value times to visit. Conditions are typical and never guaranteed.
When is Antalya least crowded for a beach holiday?
The quietest warm weeks are in May and early June and again from mid September through October, when the weather is still good for the beach but the school holiday peak has passed. Winter is very quiet but too cool for regular swimming. For a calm beach day with warm water and room to spread out, aim for the shoulder months rather than the July and August rush.
