Ditch Plains is the soul of surf Montauk, and it does not pretend to be anything else. This is not a powder soft, hedge backed Hamptons strand, it is a working surf beach of sand and cobble under low bluffs, with the most famous wave on the East End rolling in front of it, a long and forgiving point style break that has taught half of New York to surf and still draws a dawn lineup of longboards.
