Beaches for Kings is one ranked, reviewed index of the world's beaches and the clubs on them. This page is the shape of that catalogue and the method behind it, so you can see exactly what stands behind every verdict.

One index, not a pile of pages

The index spans 1,340 ranked beaches across 103 destinations, each destination with its own guide to the best beaches, a directory of the beach clubs on them, and a guide to when to go. Across the site that is more than 2,900 pages, and every one carries a published and a last reviewed date.

Alongside the destination guides sit 84 curated ranking lists, the head to head verdicts such as the best beaches in the world, the best island beaches and the best beaches for a honeymoon, so a reader can start from a place or from an occasion.

Verdict first, never a spec sheet

Every beach guide leads with a verdict rather than a description. We say who the beach suits and who should skip it, the better hour to arrive, and the access surprise nobody mentions. When a famous beach is overrated, we say so and point to where to go instead.

Beaches are judged on the things that decide a day on the sand: the character and feel of the beach, the water and swimming, the scene and the clubs, ease of access, and the value for what you pay. We rank on merit alone. A paid relationship never moves a beach up a list or changes a verdict.

Researched, dated, corrected

We research every page from primary and reputable sources and review it on a cadence, with the date shown on the page. Where a detail such as a club's minimum spend or opening status cannot be confirmed, we mark it to be confirmed rather than invent a number, and we describe conditions as typical rather than guaranteed.
