Marcello
Best for. Families with small children and anyone wanting a calm, shallow swim and a polished sunbed within minutes of Parikia, by water taxi or scooter.
Best spot. The quieter western end for the gentlest water and a towel on free sand, with the organised club and sunbeds held to the centre and east.
Know this. Marcello stays calm when much of the island is windblown, which is its quiet superpower, so it is the dependable choice on a breezy day from town.
Marcello, written Martselo on some maps, is the calm, convenient swim that Parikia keeps for itself. It sits on the north side of the bay, a short water taxi hop from the harbour or a few minutes by scooter, and the draw is the water. It is exceptionally shallow and clear, a soft sandy bottom you can wade out across for a long way, which turns the bay into a safe natural pool for small children and an easy float for everyone else. Soft pale sand and a beach club at the centre give it a touch of polish without much fuss.
The honest read is that Marcello is about ease rather than drama. There is no headline scenery and no long open sweep, the look is gentle rather than grand, and in peak August the centre fills with sunbeds and the water taxi runs busy. The service is straightforward, a club and organised sections rather than a dressed up scene, and the western end is plainer and quieter than the developed middle. None of that is a flaw, it is simply a well run town beach that does the calm family day better than almost anywhere near Parikia.
Come to Marcello when the Meltemi is up and the open coasts are blowing, because this sheltered bay stays calm when much of the island does not, and that is its quiet superpower. Take the western end for the gentlest water and a free patch of sand, or settle at the club in the centre for full service. For famous coves head north to Kolymbithres and Monastiri, and for the quieter sand directly across the bay there is Krios, but for a shallow, dependable swim a few minutes from town this is the one. The smart play is the water taxi over and an early arrival in August.
A calm club bay near town
Marcello runs an organised beach club and sunbed sections at its centre, with quieter free sand to the west. For the full island picture, see the Paros beach clubs guide.

The centre of Marcello is given over to an organised beach club with sunbeds, umbrellas and service, set above some of the shallowest, calmest water near Parikia. It suits a polished family day close to town rather than a glamorous scene. For a more refined club setting, scenic Monastiri and design led Faragas are the island picks, and the big pool club Punda Coast sits across at Pounda. Minimum spend, opening times and prices are set by the venue and are to be confirmed.
On the north side of Parikia bay
Marcello sits on the north side of Parikia bay, roughly three kilometres from the harbour. The easiest and prettiest way over is the small water taxi from Parikia port, a crossing of about ten to fifteen minutes, and by scooter or car it is under ten minutes on paved roads with parking behind the sand. A summer bus toward Naoussa passes nearby for those without wheels.
Parking near the beach fills in peak season, so come earlier for a space and the calmest water, or take the boat and skip the road entirely. Natural shade is limited, so bring or hire an umbrella, carry water for the children, and if the Meltemi is blowing on the open coasts make this sheltered bay your plan for the day.

Common questions about Marcello
Is Marcello beach Paros good for families?
Yes, it is one of the best family beaches near Parikia. The water is exceptionally shallow and calm over a soft sandy bottom, so children can wade out a long way safely, and there is a beach club, sunbeds and showers behind the sand. The quieter western end has the gentlest water. Conditions are typical rather than guaranteed, so keep an eye on your group.
How do you get to Marcello beach?
It lies on the north side of Parikia bay, about three kilometres from the harbour. The small water taxi from Parikia port is the easiest and prettiest way over, a crossing of around ten to fifteen minutes. By scooter or car it is under ten minutes on paved roads, with parking behind the sand that fills in peak season.
Is Marcello beach organised or free?
Both. The centre and eastern part have an organised beach club with sunbeds, umbrellas and service, while the western end keeps free sand where you can lay a towel. Sunbed hire and any minimum spend are set locally and are to be confirmed, so check on arrival or enquire ahead in busy August.
Does Marcello stay calm when it is windy on Paros?
Largely yes, which is its main appeal. The bay sits sheltered from the Meltemi that blows hard on the open coasts, so it often stays calm when Golden Beach and the exposed shores are choppy. That makes it the dependable swim near town on a breezy day, though no beach is calm in every wind.
When is the best time to visit Marcello?
June and September bring warm clear water, lighter crowds and easy calm swimming, which is the sweet spot. July and August are warmest and busiest, with the water taxi running most often. Mornings are quietest and calmest. May and October are gentle as the season opens and eases. Conditions are typical rather than guaranteed.
