Nha Trang is one of the better value beach cities in Southeast Asia, and the reason is simple, the main event is free. The long city beach that runs the length of the seafront is public, well kept and lined with parks, and it costs nothing to walk onto and swim from. Add cheap, excellent seafood and low cost rooms a block back, and a fine beach day here can cost very little indeed.

Where money actually leaks is the paid layer, the island boat tours, the cable car and theme park, and the resort or club day passes, all of which are easy to fold in but far from essential to a good day.
