Secret
Beach
A small west coast cove where the bar’s real trade is candle lit tables for two.
The verdict
- Book ifYou want the island’s most literal romance product, a candle lit dinner staged on the sand or in a private cabana as the sun drops into open water, with a fire show or a musician on request
- Skip ifYou expect the solitude the name promises at two in the afternoon, when the little cove is full of day trippers and the snorkellers work the headland
- One thing to knowNothing here carries a published price, not the loungers, not the dinner sets, so agree the figure when you arrange the evening and treat every number as to be confirmed

The name does double duty here. Secret Beach is the cove that Thai maps call Haad Son, a pocket of pale sand folded into the steep west coast of Koh Phangan, and it is also the family scaled bar and bungalow operation living on it, whose beachfront room is called the Lost and Found Beach Bar. There is no pool, no velvet rope and no resident superstar DJ, just lounge chairs under umbrellas, a kitchen behind them, live music and DJ sets when the sun starts falling, and a menu of staged beach picnics that runs from brunch to a candle lit dinner for two with a private fire show if you ask for one.
That last part is why we send couples here before anywhere else on the island. Every other venue in our Koh Phangan club directory treats romance as a byproduct of a good bar. This one builds it to order, down to the choice between chairs at a high table or cushions around a low one.

A cove with two personalities
Daytime Secret Beach belongs to everyone. The cove is small, well signed and easy to love, so by late morning in season the sand carries day trippers, snorkellers and long queues of photographs, and the only secret left is how the place got its name. The bar does honest service through those hours, drinks and Thai and western plates to the chairs, kayaks and water sports gear nearby, but you are sharing the stage.
The evening is the reason to come. The cove points due west with nothing between the sand and the horizon, and once the crowd drains up the hill the venue turns into the version of itself it advertises: candles on a table it built for you that afternoon, a set menu or the regular kitchen, cushions or chairs as you prefer, and a fire show or an acoustic set if you paid for one. Guests reviewing the Lost and Found bar describe live music running late, sunset from the terrace and lounge chairs kept in good order.
The shortfalls are worth naming. Nothing has a printed price, from the loungers to the dinner sets, so every figure is a conversation, and one recent reviewer praised the food but reported waiting an hour for it, which matters when the entire point of your booking is a sunset that keeps its own schedule. Arrange the evening early, confirm the cost in writing and let the kitchen start before the light does its work.
Haad Son, once the day crowd leaves

Our own Haad Son beach guide is blunter about the crowds and the tight hilltop parking, and about why the first and last hours of the day are the ones worth owning here.
Down the lane, dinner arranged first
The cove sits roughly ten kilometres north of the ferry piers at Thong Sala, a straightforward run by scooter, island taxi or shared songthaew, finished by a short steep lane from the hilltop parking to the sand. Day visits need no planning beyond arriving early enough to park. The staged evenings do: the picnic and dinner packages are built per booking, so contact the team by phone, WhatsApp, LINE or email a day or more ahead, pick your setup and menu, and get the total in writing.
If you would rather arrive with everything already agreed, tell us your date and occasion below and we will put the request to Secret Beach, confirm what your evening will cost and hold it for you. Our side of it is free.

Questions couples actually ask
Do you need to book at Secret Beach on Koh Phangan?
For an ordinary daytime visit, no. The cove is public sand and the Lost and Found bar serves walk ins to its lounge chairs. The beach picnic packages are different: the candle light dinners, sunset celebrations and beach brunches are set up to order, so those need to be arranged ahead by phone, WhatsApp or email with the team.
How much do sunbeds cost at Secret Beach?
No lounger tariff is published anywhere we can find, on the venue site or in visitor reports, so the rate is to be confirmed. Recent guests describe well kept lounge chairs and umbrellas, and the Koh Phangan custom is that what you order from the bar is the real rent for the seat.
What is the candle light dinner at Secret Beach like?
It is the venue's signature. You choose a set menu or pay for the setup alone and order from the regular kitchen, then pick the staging: a simple candle lit table or a private cabana, high table and chairs or a low table with cushions on the sand. A private musician, a fire show and a photographer can be added. Prices sit in a request document, so treat every figure as to be confirmed.
What beach is the Secret Beach bar on and how do you get there?
The bar sits on the cove travellers call Secret Beach and locals call Haad Son, on the west coast of Koh Phangan roughly ten kilometres north of the Thong Sala piers. Most visitors arrive by scooter, island taxi or shared songthaew, then take the short steep lane down to the sand. Parking at the top of the hill fills by late morning in season.
Is Secret Beach good for couples?
It is the most deliberately romantic venue on the island. The cove faces west so the sunset lands on open water, and the bar builds candle lit tables, cabana dinners and fire shows around exactly that hour. The honest caveat is midday, when the small cove fills with day trippers and the romance thins until the crowd leaves.
Can families use Secret Beach with children?
Yes, especially earlier in the day. An independent beach guide describes the cove as gently sloping with usually calm, clear water, which suits small swimmers, and the bungalow operation is family run in feel rather than a party venue. Evening bookings shift the mood toward couples at dinner tables.
