Curacao keeps its beach club scene tidy and easy to plan, which suits a Practical Planner. Almost all of it sits on two manmade beach strips a short drive apart on the south coast, both calm, both with beach beds, food and a bar, and both an easy taxi from the cruise port and Willemstad. You pay for a lounger and what you eat and drink rather than a European style entry through a rope.

Mambo Beach, around fifteen minutes east of the city by road, is the busier strip, a boulevard of bars and clubs behind the sand where the energy builds into the evening. Jan Thiel, a little further on, is the smarter, calmer end, with stylish lounges, an infinity pool club and a famous Friday session. Knowing which strip you want is most of the decision.

It is worth being upfront about money and access. Day bed rates and any minimum spend vary by club and season and are not always published, so we list them as to be confirmed. Both strips have free public sand alongside the clubs, parking is easy, and a taxi is the simplest way in if you are staying in the city or on a cruise call.

When to go

When the clubs are best in Curacao

The clubs run all year, and because Curacao is sunny across the calendar and sits below the hurricane belt, there is rarely a washout to plan around. The water is calmest in the morning and the club energy best from late afternoon into the evening, so a typical day moves from a quiet lounger to a sunset drink. The December to April peak brings the biggest crowds and the highest prices, with the famous Friday and weekend nights worth booking ahead, while the quieter months from September into early December bring softer prices and the odd brief shower. Whenever you go, the trade wind keeps things pleasant, and conditions are typical rather than guaranteed.

How to book

Getting a day bed, the honest way

The practical approach is to choose by the strip you want rather than the name alone. For a lively afternoon that rolls into the evening, Mambo Beach delivers, while for a calm, stylish day the Jan Thiel lounges are the better fit. Walk in for a casual lounger or drink, but reserve ahead for the famous Friday and weekend nights, sunset and larger groups, especially in the December to April peak.

Tell us your dates, party size and the mood you are after, lively or laid back, and we will pass your enquiry on so the club can confirm availability and any spend. Some bookings may earn us a commission at no cost to you, and all conditions are typical rather than guaranteed.

Good questions

Before you go

Does Curacao have beach clubs?

Yes, concentrated on two manmade beach strips on the south coast. Mambo Beach near Willemstad is the lively strip, with Cabana Beach and Madero Ocean Club, while Jan Thiel a little further east is the calmer, more stylish end, with Zanzibar, Zest and the Papagayo pool club. You rent a beach bed or take a table rather than pay a club entry.

How much does a beach club or day bed cost in Curacao?

It varies by club and season, and published rates are limited, so we list spend as to be confirmed. The clubs rent loungers and beach beds or set a food and drink spend, and both strips have free public sand alongside. The simplest approach is to confirm the current rate directly with the club when you book.

Which is the best beach club in Curacao?

It depends on the mood. Cabana Beach on Mambo Beach is the all round favourite with white sand and a midweek party, Madero Ocean Club is the lively pool and DJ spot on the boulevard, and Zanzibar on Jan Thiel is the relaxed pizza and sunset choice. Tell us your vibe and we will match you to the right one.

Do you need to book a beach club in Curacao?

For a casual lounger or drink you can usually walk in, but for the famous Friday and weekend nights, sunset and larger groups it is worth reserving ahead, especially in the December to April peak. Both strips also have open public sand, so there is always a spot alongside the clubs.

Where are the beach clubs in Curacao?

Almost all sit on two strips on the south coast a short drive apart. Mambo Beach is around fifteen minutes east of Willemstad and the cruise port, and Jan Thiel is a little further on. Both are an easy taxi from the city, parking is simple, and you can club hop between them in a single day.

Are Curacao beach clubs good for families?

Many are. The calm, shallow water on both Mambo Beach and Jan Thiel makes for an easy beach day, and the clubs serve full food menus by day before the evening crowd builds. Going earlier and choosing a relaxed spot makes for the smoothest family visit, so ask us and we can point you to the right fit.
